And KObe averaged over 40 pts a game for month. Have you ever noticed Lakers seem to lose when Kobe starts chunking everything up there? When he's averaging about 30 they seem to be better team.

That was a travel by the way. Kobe lost handle on ball when Battier jumped forward. Kobe kind of skipped with both feet, then drug back foot. Two travels actually. Ref had to call. But pros get away with so much they are always upset if called for traveling.

Yao jumped out on top to help double team Kobe, yet Kobe decided to try and dribble instead of passing. Good gamble by the Rockets!

Here's every game this year in which Kobe's scored more than 40.

11/21 vs. LAC... 40 pts W, 105-101
11/30 vs. Utah... 52 pts. W, 132-102
12/15 vs. HOU... 53 pts. W, 112-101
12/17 vs. WAS... 45 pts. L, 147-141
12/29 @ CHA... 58 pts. L, 133-124
1/4 @ SAC... 42 pts. W, 132-128
1/22 @ GS... 42 pts. W, 108-103
1/31 @ BOS... 43 pts. W 111-98
3/6 @ MIN... 40 pts. L 117-107
3/16 vs. POR... 65 pts. W 116-111
3/18 vs. MIN... 50 pts. W 109-102
3/22 @ MEM... 60 pts. W 121-119
3/23 @ NO... 50 pts. W 111-105
3/25 vs. GS... 43 pts. W 115-113
3/30 vs. HOU... 53 pts. L 107-104

The Lakers are 11-4 when he scores 40+ on the year. They're 27-30 in games that he doesn't score 40. Take it one step further, they're 4-1 in games which he scores 35-39, 6-2 when he scores 50+.

I don't like Kobe. Honestly can't stand him, but I'm starting to feel like one of the biggest Kobe apologists on the board for simply pointing out the obvious... that he's doing EXACTLY what MJ did. In case you guys forget, MJ was a huge "ballhog."

Often an opposing forward , K.Malone, for example, has more assists than Jordan, a guard . [submitted by R. Voswinkel]

Guess what folks, he's better than Jordan. Right this very minute. Maybe not in the PR department, but definitely in the skills dept and the clutch dept (I'd say Kobe's even more clutch than Jordan... he's hit more game-winning shots, and he's also done it in more "games that matter"). He'll never get the respect he deserves because history's painted MJ kindly, but Kobe's already passed up MJ as far as skills. Maybe not greatness and that ability to bend the game into submission, but Pippen was the unheralded assassin in that equation.

Oh, and in Kobe's his post-Shaq era, the Lakers' winning percentages when Kobe scores 40+, 50+, and 60+ are better than the Bulls' clips when Jordan went for the same numbers. MJ's first title came when he was what, 29? And that group (Armstrong, Grant, Pippen) was MUCH better than Kobe's supporting cast. Hell, that group won 55 games WITHOUT Jordan.
