This is an optional position in college and international levels in volleyball. Texas HS volleyball has not adopted it yet. You can get more infomation on it at http://www.volleyball.org/rules/libero.html
I would think that maybe they might adopted it Texas hs volleyball soon. The good thing about it besides maybe helping the team is that it gives some girls that may be more of a defensive player and may not have the skills to serve, block or spike the ball and enable them to contribute to their team and earn a scholarship.
