Anyone know of a reasonable depreciation rate for a commercial boxed truck? I'm trying to sell our delivery truck to some stingy Arabs, but I want to be sure that the price is right for both ends. I figured the age and mileage would be the most important factors. Its a 2001 E-350 with just over 40,000 miles.

What series (Chateau, Econoline, XL, or XLT) is it?

Also, which engine does it have and does it have factory A/C built in?

Just go by the bluebook value

Retail Values: $7,725 to $12,375 depending on condition

Trade-in Values: $5,580 to $9,820 depending on condition

If it's in top of the line condition for a used vehicle...I would ask $11,000 for it. If it's "good but not great" then I would ask $9,000 for it. If it's "serviceable" I would ask $7000 for it. Does that help?

We have an offer for 7800 right now. The truck's in great shape. The tires need replacing and the bumper is rusted over, but there's nothing wrong with it. The Arabs are offering to pay cash, so we can avoid any hassles with taxes and/or financing.

What would it cost you to replace the tires and bumper?

The tires are about $100 apiece. I'm not sure what the bumper would cost. I think it'd be wiser at this point to just cut our losses and sell. These are the first folks who've shown interest, and no one else around here can offer that amount of cash.

Yeah...I would say $8500 and see if you can talk them down to $8000 and go with that. What are they wanting the van for?

8500 is what we wanted originally. They offered 7500 yesterday but came back today with an offer for 7800. I'm sure we could get more outside our market, but whatever difference is to be made would probably be negated by the travel costs and what not. I think they plan to use the vehicle for their business. They own a local tally-ho roach motel and could probably use it for trips to Sam's Club and what not.

I work with a lady that didn't and the police called her in to answer some questions about a store robbery that a car she previously owned was involved.
