For those that were not able to watch, something truly amazing ocurred at the Bobcat Relays in Refugio yesterday. Not only 1 but 2 3A athletes were battling for the high jump championship at 7 feet after both cleared 6 feet 10 inches. Yes s-e-v-e-n 7 feet. Scott Holder of Ingleside and Trent Hesseltine of Sinton were the 2 athletes responsible for this awesome display. Every once in a while someone is fortunate enough to witness one person attempt such a feat, but very seldom do we get a chance to see 2 athletes competing so well at that height. It was an extremely awesome thing to watch. Although neither cleared this amazing height, the season isn't over yet. Congratulations to both and good luck the rest of the season.

Come on now, aren't you going to tell us who won it?

The boy from Ingleside. Both will have a great year.

That's pretty awesome. The only 7 ft. high jumper I have seen in person on a track working or in a competition was Charles Austin who won gold in Atlanta in 1996. Pretty special stuff.

People from Goliad, Cuero, Refugio, and Sinton should remember a kid from Goliad a couple of years back... Justin Youngblood... kid could flat out get up... saw him go over 7'....

I thought I did something when I once cleared 5 ft and got second place. :)

I saw Grant Lindsey from Mansfield go over 7' 2" last year...I also watched James Lott set the state record (at the time) in 1983 at 7' 4 3/4". It's incredible to watch someone jump that high! I was actually close (6' 9") in 1982 before I blew out my ankle, but the funny thing about the high jump is it's over so quickly it's actually more memorable (at least to me) to watch than to experience.

Former Gobbler Will Littelton cleared 7'5 1/2 yesterday at a track meet setting a personal best Jump . I cant even imagine jumping that height
