Dudley Moore played the best drunk period. No body, and I mean no body, stumpled and slurred better than Arthur.

Probably Lee Marvin because he was the one that won the oscar.

Jack Lemmon and Lee Remick were very good in the movie The Days of Wine and Roses. It was a drama and showed how alcohol can destroy one's life. Both of them were nominated for best actor/actress but they didn't win.

He also got drunk in North to Alaska. In fact I think he also had a drunk scene in True Grit.

I agree.

I may not have the quote exactly right, but when he goes to talk to his future father-in-law... They are in the study and the father-in-law says something like, "I believe drinking impairs your decision-making. Don't you agree?" and Arthur says, "I don't know. I CAN'T DECIDE." That still cracks me up every time. He gets my vote.
