Anybody know what kind of times the boys are running this season? Looking at the top results reported so far on TexasTrack.com, I've only recognized two 3A kids in the top sprint performances so far.

10.68 100m Cordero Gray, Kennedale
22.06 200m Skye Green, Sweetwater

The 100 this year might be Shawnbrey 1 and Cordero 2.

We (crandall) have a 22.1 kid in the 200. He's a better 400 guy though. He should be around 49-50 by the end of the season.

nope.. it was in El Campo if that helps

he ran a 10.56 at the State Track Meet last year- I assume that is FAT

He was in 2nd at UTSA last weekend (at prelims) but it says FS in the finals - assume that is False Start? anyway - I hope he stays healthy - he is some kind of fast

Probably hand-timed. If so, that would be a great race between him and Gray from Kennedale. The standard adjustment used world-wide for converting hand-times to FAT is to add .24 (due to hand-held reaction times on races under 300m) which would put him at 10.68 also.

I haven't seen any results from Shawnbrey McNeal of Madison this season. It will be interesting to see how he's running this year.

This Isiah Kirkland from Wylie ran an 11.3 a few weeks ago in the 100.

I havent seen any results from him either. The kid from Bryan Adams might be the fastest in Dallas this year. He has won the 100 meters at every meet he has been to and was slocked at a 10.45 FAT at one. I dont remember him from last year. Might be a move in!

The kid from San Antonio is supposed to be the fastest in the state this year. They are saying he will be close to breaking the National Record this year as a sophomore but I highly doubt it.

What about relays? Seen any really good times? Kennedale's coach told me all 4 of his guys can go sub-11 sec. in the open 100 when they get it right. They've already run a 41.89 FAT in the 4x100 and their handoffs were only mediocre (one was pretty bad).

You certainly got that right! Back when I used to go all the time I saw some amazing performances and even saw a bunch of records set. I saw James Lott set the HJ record, saw Anthony Ray Ketchum set the National 400m record, watched Robot Roy Martin and Joe DeLoach run. I saw the Celina relay teams run back in the 80's when they were great!

we'll have to have a "mini M&G" at the Track Meet - it's fun, whether you are watching a particular team/person or just watching some great races - we've been going for YEARS.. went to my first State Track Meet in 1971 or so. Haven't missed many since then.

That's awesome! I went to my first one in 1981 when I qualified in the HJ. Over the next 10 years or so I didn't miss any. Since then, well...it's been a different story.

Wow, this thread got me checking out the leaders for all classifications in the events on texas track.com. In girls discus 3 of the top 10 so far are in 3A, but what makes this even more interesting is that they are all in the same district. Wow what a loaded district for discus.

That girl from Pecos is somehting else. Is she on the list, I read an atricle a few weeks ago and she was making some confident statements, I mean border line cocky stuff. It was great!

This season, though, Mazone has a strong team behind her and the Lady Eagles are ready to go after the dominant Monahans girls as the Class 3A team to beat in West Texas.
“We are going to take this one over,” Mazone said. “I want to go and set some records myself this weekend.
“I have a good feeling. I think Monahans should be scared of us.”

Apparently Chantell Mazone should have competed in Division I on Friday.
The Pecos senior dominated Division II, sweeping the girls shot put and discus titles easily in the West Texas Relays at Ratliff Stadium.
“I was mad because there was no competition, not to sound cocky,” Mazone said. “I beat the girls by 27 feet in the discus and 6 feet in the shot put.
“It was ridiculous. It was boring. I would like to try Division I, I don’t think they are any better than us.”
Mazone threw 127 feet, 10 inches in the discus and 36-6 3/4 in the shot put to continue her trek toward the state meet in Austin.
“I’m shooting for 140 (feet) in the discus and 40 (feet) in the shot put the next time out, which would have won state last year,” Mazone said. “I just have to keep lifting weights and getting in better shape.”

I dont know what the Giddings coaches are doing with the track team but they took a huge step back from last years team. I think they are trying to get Lawhorn in as many time for Texas Relays. He didnt look like he was running fast in his 400 ans then won the 200 easily and did good in the 100 also. They have his little brother (a freshman) running 3rd leg on a bunch of relays.
They may just be trying things out to make sure they win district and hopefully make it a team event at state.
