One thing positive about Jim Dent's book The Undefeated is that I noticed a picture that included a halfback named Jack Ging who played on the 1953 team that started the 47 game win streak. Jack Ging has been a great character actor for many years. He has been in several movies and tv series usually as a guest star. He was General Fullbright in The A Team and played Morgon Allen in the Clint Eastwood Movie High Plains Drifter (he was the wounded man that went to warn the three baddies about Clint). He played football for Oklahoma from 1951 to 1953 even though he only weighted about 152 lbs. Below is his picture in action as he eludes a tackler against Oklahoma State in 1953. During the three years he played for Oklahoma they went 25-4-2. In his last game the Sooners beat No. 1 Maryland 7 to 0 in the Orange Bowl.
After college he served his country in the Marines for 4 years and then started his acting career.
I saw one of his first movies made which was called Sniper's Ridge made in 1961 and it was good and he was good in that movie. I keep hoping to catch it on tv sometime.
He was from Alva, Oklahoma.
This may be a great find for the 3A downlow because I don't think too many web sites have pointed this out if any so we may have a scoop here. It just goes to show that 3A downlow is really up to par!
