Mart’s Rusty Nail and Chilton’s Robert Little have both been named 2006 GearBoss Coach of the Year honorees, TexasFootball.com announced on Friday.
Nail guided the Panthers to a 16-0 record and the Class 2A Division II title in his first season at Mart, while Little took Chilton to a 14-1 mark and the 1A Division II championship in his debut year overseeing the Pirates, losing only to Nail’s Panthers. They both shared Super Centex Coach of the Year honorees.
Other Coach of the Year award winners were Cedar Hill’s Joey McGuire (5A), Alamo Heights’ Don Byrd (4A), Celina’s Butch Ford (3A), Vernon Northside’s Ed Donahue (six-man) and Austin Regents’ Beck Brydon (private schools).
