I just get off work and head home only to find that me and my wife will be seperated for the first time since we were married. The geniouses that be our government officials have shut down I-35 in both directions for 24 hours starting at 8 p.m. tonight between Lewisville and Lake Dallas/Hickory Creek. Of all nights to shut down an entire highway, why the heck would they do it on a Saturday night...a holiday night at that? And the lovely thing is that there's really no feasible alternate route. I bet hundreds of people end up ticked off tonight when they find out that they can't get home from a night out!

Use 1171 and 35W or 380/720/423/121.

Yeah, those are the possible routes, but you're still looking at a couple of hours minimum to make what should be a ten minute drive...she's fifteen minutes south of 35W...the highway is shut from Round Grove Road to Valley Ridge, and it's backed up for miles both ways.

A couple of hours!?!?!?! How slow do you drive?

she's stuck in the middle of I-35E...traffic is backed up to Denton, so there's no way to avoid it...I could get to her by taking that route you gave, but you'd still eventually have to end up on I-35E to get where she's at. She couldn't even see where traffic was moving in either direction, so if she tried going north, she'd be in the same situation.

But seriously, back to the main point...why the heck would someone decide to close a highway on a Saturday night that's also a holiday???

That sucks! They must be doing something crazy. If it's only shut down from Round Grove to Valley Ridge people should be able to get around it getting on and off at 407 on the north side and 121 on the south side.

I don't know, but I knew it was going to be closed.

I'm confused.....if she couldn't get anywhere, did she spend the night in her vehicle on the road?

Personally, driving a couple of hours out of my way would be better than that!!

sorry...she was actually at her parent's house...they live directly off of I-35...so she was there all night while I was at home.
