Just wondering everyones opinion on who will come out with a win. In my opinion, Burnet will come out over the top. Burnet obviously has a good ground game as well as an awesome Pass game. After the win with MC, this comes out more. There was one pass that was long and well played tonight that really impressed me and my opinion on how well the pass game is. Marlin has a great team this year. But, in the end, no matter who wins, there will still be two AWESOME teams in 3AAA, BURNET AND MARLIN. I was also impressed with the band during their moment of silence when they played Amazing Grace. Very touching and inspirational.

I'm not going to set myself for any kind of disapointment, so I will predict that this will be Burnet's biggest test of the regular season. I will also predict there will be plenty of press coverage on this game as Shipley closes in on two of the three alltime state records that are within his grasp. To all of the posters on here from Marlin come early and stay late, and take the time to enjoy Burnet's hospitality. We very much appreciated the hospitalty offered to Burnet's fans last year in Marlin. If your looking to get a bite before the game just ask we will try to direct you to some good eats, but keep in mind the Burnet Boosters Club has a fantastic setup for burgers etc.

Cooooool....
I might go to this one. It would be about 30 minutes closer than the Sinton-Cuero game.
This is gonna be a good one but Burnet should take it at home by at least 10. Ya never know though...

If I leave home in my raingear,I will be worried. Otherwise I predict that McGee, Shipley, Warner, and Levens will be too much for Marlin. If Marlin tries to stop Burnet with 3 down linemen like last year than I predict 100 yds for our little fullback, Ferguson. Burnet 45 Marlin 14 unless its raining. If rain I predict Burnet 21 Marlin 7.

Sorry Cunbed10 and MarlinFan just the way I see it. We here in Marlin Respect you for that, but Marlin is not going to Burnet to keep it close, or to give Burnet the best competition thus far, we are coming to hit some Bulldog in the mouth, that's what you have to in someone's back yard.

Meg what are you basing this on.

Cunbed, be careful about going into someones back yard and hitting the Bulldog's in the mouth. Here lately, they have hit back pretty hard. Marlin better run the ball and get out of this one without anymore injuries. Take your lumps before district so you can come back full strength for district and the playoffs.

Marlin loses a major weapon without Tank. The key for Marlin to win this game is to run the ball effectively and keep Burnet's high powered O off the field. Without Tank, I just don't see that happening. Look at the Gatesville game. Gatesville tried ball control and had some long drives. But Lashon Thayer couldn't get it done by himself. I believe Gatesville and Marlin are pretty even. Marlin is a little faster and has a little better secondary, but I don't think they have anyone who can go on on one with Shipley. When you start doubling Shipley, you leave Warner and Bostic open, and Warner is a great reciever with a lot of speed. If Marlin drops 8 and rushes 3, three things are going to happen. Levens will have a field day, and McGee will have all kinds of time to pick them apart. It will also give Shipley time to get behind the secondary and anyone who has watched Burnet play knows that McGee can throw the long ball.

Let me promise you this. For those of you that are baseing your predictions on the Marlin team of last year are forgetting that Marlin has changed their offense completely. Yes Tank is a big loss, but Jimenez is averaging almost 8 yards a carry. Richardson is dangerous when ever he gets the ball. Their soph more quarterback has thrown for 450 yards in the last two games. Marlin now has a short ball control passing game that compliments their running game which they haven't had in the past. This could be a shoot out should be fun to watch. For those of you who think Marlin and Gatesville are simular just remember that Marlin ran up and down the field on Gatesville in a scrimmage. ( I know scrimmages don't mean much.) Should be fun come out and join the fun.

The fact that both teams will be tested before district and the playoffs is what makes this contest so important regardless of the outcome. Both coaches should be able to determine areas that need work. Burnet even has a week off after the game to work on these areas. Last year the offensive line coaches worked on the ability of the offensive line to block fast defensive linemen. The defensive coaches worked on open field tackling. Without the great competition from Marlin and Shoemaker last year, the coaches might not have even known these areas needed work until it is was too late.

It's great to get good competition before the outcome really matters.

I really would like to come see the game....but prob won't be able to make it....have an early Saturday appointment, but I know it will be a good one. If I was about 20 years younger, it would be nothing to drive up there and back and still get up at the crack of dawn! But I'm not going to Pearsall either...so I'll be on here to hear any reports about the game. I really do hope it's a good game with no injuries....and I hope you both play your best, and may the best team win!
