The only good thing the town of Goldthwaite has ever produced steps down. Gosh she sure was a heck of a coach. Good luck to the coach that has to follow one of the pioneers of women's basketball.

It might be tough..BUT it was time IMO...I wonder if they take a chance on Pokey Chatman

I think it was time also. I don't see them taking a chance on Pokey, but what do I know?

Pokey is the coach of LSU who stepped down within the last week because of allegations of an improper relationship with a former player.

I say talk to her. I don't condone what that woman did, but if UT wants to win big again, she should at least be interviewed.

I bet they go looking down the road in Waco and go after Baylor's HC Kim Mulkey. She's still relatively young and has a NC under her belt!!!

:D :D

Nice cheap shot junior, but we still have these:

UT's Conradt resigns after 31 years

09:05 PM CDT on Monday, March 12, 2007

By CHIP BROWN / The Dallas Morning News

Texas women's basketball coach Jody Conradt resigned Monday after 31 years in Austin.

"It's appropriate at this point and time that there be a change," Conradt said. "It's not acceptable that Texas not be in the NCAA Tournament two years in a row. I've had a wonderful time representing this university. It's not an easy decision. I just feel as if it's time for a change."

Her Longhorns went 18-14 this season, including a 6-10 record against the Big 12 in the regular season. Seeds for the NCAA Tournament were announced Monday.

Conradt's career record of 900-306 includes her work at Sam Houston State and UT-Arlington.

Conradt, the National Coach of the Year six times, led Texas to 21 NCAA Tournaments, three Final Four appearances and a national title in 1986. Her 1986 team went 34-0, the first NCAA Division I women's basketball team to accomplish that feat. Her last Final Four appearance was in 2003.

Under Conradt, Texas won 22 league titles, including 12 regular-season championships. Her greatest success came in the Southwest Conference. She won 10 regular-season titles in the now defunct league and nine SWC tournaments. The Longhorns won the Big 12 regular season in 2003 and 2004.

I'd say they will go after the old Mesquite/Crandal coach who has taken UTA to elite status: Donna Capps

id like to see Travis Mayes take over the womens basketball team. Id give Poke Chatman a hard look too as long as she doesnt have any more skeltons in her closet not yet exposed

Texas will not take even a glance at anyone that could possibly cast a bad light on the UT image.

You must be from across the river and have a bad taste in your mouth for all the recent times your butt was handed to you in football. LMAO

Good luck Judy!

Does Phil Simms have a daughter? I was just thinking.........:p

Many UT women's basketball fans are scared including myself because of the uncertain future that this forbodes. :(

This is a GOOD thing..HEr time had come IMO to hang it up. UT has the power and money to get who they want

But Tx. Power and money does not always equal wins. That is the risk.

I agree
Texas won't hire someone who has had an improper relationship with a player
I think that coach will have to go to California to get another job

if Mulkey leaves Baylor i think it'd be to LSU not UT....she already makes more money than most women coaches so its not like anyone is going to offer her more to entice her to leave cause if they did then they would be paying her more than their men's coach (which baylor does btw)...the only way i see her leaving is to go home to louisiana and coach at LSU, but im not so sure she isnt just gonna stay here in waco...we will see, if Mulkey stays in Waco this year then she will stay there a long time...

I hope Coach Conradt reconsiders and comes back for at least two more years. :(

Why not? Coach Paterno has coached at Penn State since 1950 and been head coach since 1967.
