My family and I visited her cousin and his wife in Huema (spelling) in 1998. This was at Thanksgiving. They lived about an hour's drive from NO. He decided to show us NO. We would have been happy to just go there but he said "I don't want you to say you've been to New Orleans - I want to to say you've seen New Orleans."

We had a great tour needless to say and the city was awesome! It is a great city.

Did you know that due to the low elevation in southern Louisiana that they bury dead people above the ground. Fasinating indeed.

In fact if you ever pull off the road in Louisiana be very very careful because you could hit quicksand and be lost forever.

In Sinton we had a man that got into trouble with the law with PI. When he was free he disappeared by going to Louisiana into the swamp. He has never been heard from again but he had always said he had kinfolks there. The law needless to say didn't think it was worth pursuing him since he was gone.

I once saw a movie about some voodoo people that took over some younger people's bodies at the end of the movie. It took place in Southern Louisiana and was made in 2004 I think. I don't remember the name of the movie unfortunately. They had done that over several generations.

I said that no problem now. They would get theirs when Katrina was to hit the next summer.

Another fasinating fact is did you know that the great John Wayne/Stuart Whitman western The Commancheros takes place just outside of New Orleans during the first few minutes of the movie? Fasicating indeed.

There was also a great Clint Eastwood movie that took place but I don't remember the name. Can anyone help?

Also John Waynes love interest character in North to Alaska (Capucine who played Angel) was from New Orleans.

The great western Vera Cruz made in 1954 with Gary Cooper, Burt Lancaster, Ernest Borgnein and Charles Bronson has an interesting note. Even thought it took place in Mexico after the Civil war it was mentioned that Gary Cooper's character was from Louisiana even though it didn't mention New Orleans.
