Hawks had a good weekend in Midland. Lost 1st game to Monahans 8-0, however for some reason, IP played that game w/out 4 starters due to a "Track Meet" how about that, most successful program in that school and coach cant get his kids. Beat L.Roosevelt, Chapel Hill, and Lamesa. Lost to Canyon 2-1.
Everyone in N.Texas is talking about Burk, but I'm telling you I've watched these guys play a few times, and they are going to be pretty good. Might be the deepest pitching staff they have and hitters 1-5 are tough outs. Monahans ends up playing in the Championship game and gets routed, they also lost to Chapel Hill. That tells you just how close IP was from defending its title, and I know they would have had a good arm going against Cooper. Would have been a good rematch from 2005 Regional Finals when an star studed Cooper squad dominated my hawks. I know Coach Swenson was wanting to play them to see just how good his 2007 squad is, because Cooper is highly touted again this year.
