From 8 to 24
There has been a lot of buzz going around about Kobe's switch to the number 24.

Kobe's response to questions about the switch has been that he wanted a new number for the second half of his career.

#24 was Bryant's first high school number, before he switched to #33. Kobe has said that he wanted #24 as a rookie, but it was unavailable, as was #33, retired with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

'Mo money...'mo money. If someone has the #8, well, that's out of date so they have to go buy the #24. More money for Kobe.
