How do you heat up your grill when gettin ready for the weekend of steaks, ribs, chicken, sausage, ect......

Mesquite Wood:
Gas:
Charcoal:
Other type of wood

Most of all the grillers I know only use
Mesquite Wood
I have run into some boys in east Texas that swear by Oak, Pecan and other types of wood
but out here in the Wild west we use what we have the most of
MESQUITE

Hickory is the best in my opinion. But here in west Texas it's gonna be mesquite. I generally mix about 25% pecan in with my mesquite to dampen down the strong flavor.

I got 4 mesquite trees in my yard buddy. And my neighbor just cut down 2 of his. I have all the wood I need. :)

I'll use charcoal if I absolutely have to, but not without some soaked mesquite/pecan chips to put on top...

but wood we usually use what we have most of around here... some mesquite, a lot of live and post-oak and a lot of pecan...

Hickory is hard to beat, Mesquite runs a close second.

Ditto, gobbla.
I use 80% oak and pecan. 10% charcoal and about 5% hickory, mesquite or other.
I do have Weber Q grille to take along on road trips for quick fajitas, steaks or chicken breasts. That's the other 5% which is gas.
