im in the market for a new vehicle. i now drive a Saturn L300 (mid-size) and i love the gas milage. although id like to take a step up when it comes to total vehicle "image", i dont want to do without the fuel efficiency (i get 30+ mpg) since i drive 70 miles per day to and from work. is there any vehicle suggestions?

riding a humming bird to work would be fuel efficient, but "image" would be out the window :(

I've always been a fan of imports. A Corolla or Civic might not be a bad choice. The get like 30-40mpg easily.

those are smaller cars than what i have. i think i need an upgrade from mid-size. the smaller suvs dont have the space that i have right now, and the minivans dont have the gas milage. so thats my predicament. i was hoping some of you would give your experiences with what you have.

Can't go wrong with a Camry or Accord.

Why buy a car? Buy a motorcycle and keep the car you have for rainy days and any other potential weather related reasons you can think of. You will get better gas mileage and nobody would snicker as you cruised past them.

A Toyota Camry or Honda Accord won't get quite the mileage you are wanting. You could also look at the VW Jetta. I drive a 2005 and get 25-28 in the city and 30-35 on the highway (depending on elevation changes).

I have a 2000 Chrysler Grand Voyager, and I get like 25-27mpg or something like that. All I know is that I can get to Austin on less than half a tank. :D

if you want domestic....

Pontiac is coming out with a G8 later this year...

Chevrolet is redesigning its Malibu later this year...

do a search so you can see them. There are more but i can't remember off hand. They both look nice.

How do you like it as far as everything else goes?

It's roomy. I just took my family(me, the wife, and 3 kids) and my inlaws(2 adults, 1 child) for a day of shopping on Sunday. We all fit comfortably. It's kind of like driving a good size truck as far as handling goes. It's not that bad at all. My other vehicle is a 92 Honda Accord and aside from the size, the only difference is the gas milage. In town driving is what eats up the gas, but if you do a lot of out of town driving than it is not that bad.

I drive a 2002 2500 Dodge with a Cummins, and it gets 21 mpg. You get a little less as far as mileage is concerned, but everyone will think you're very manly when you cruise by them. :D

Mine is a 6-speed, so I think that it helps.

I'm getting 19 mpg in my 05 Ford F350 crew cab 4X4 with the 6.0 Powerstroke. Really wanting the new 6.4 but waiting for the bugs to be worked out first.

Pirate44....the April issue of Consumer Reports reviews the 2007 cars. There is some great info in there that might help you out.

I love it!!!!! OK, actually I bought the car for my daughter, but since she does not turn 16 until this summer I have been driving it...I get 34 MPG on the highway @ about 70-80 MPH. In town I get around 25 mpg

(Ford or Chevy did not have a compariable car at the time $$$ or safety)

We bought a fifth wheel camper and need something to pull it with. So he says...I "get to drive it" for a few years before we buy me what I want. All I can say is y'all better watch out....cause I am gonna be big and bold on the road....LOL
