If anyone wants a some really really good deals on computers, TVs ect. Find your nearest CompUSA, half of them are going out of business. Everything is %20-%50 off. TV's I remember were %30. All Xbox games and accessories were %30 off. Got a 2nd wireless controller for $35.

Computers if I remember were only %10 off though.

CompUSA Announces Realignment Strategy

DALLAS, Feb. 27, 2007 - As part of its plan to realign the organization, CompUSA today announced a comprehensive strategy to improve the company's financial status. The realignment includes a cash infusion, store closures, major expense reductions and a corporate restructuring.

As part of CompUSA's realignment strategy, the company will receive a $440 million cash capital infusion. The financial boost will be designated to improve the company's balance sheet.

"Based on changing conditions in the consumer retail electronics market, the company identified the need to close and sell stores with low performance or non strategic, old store layouts and locations faced with market saturation. The process began last week with the closing of four CompUSA stores and over the next 60-90 days, the company will close a total of 126 stores in the United States to focus on initiatives that enhance its top performing locations," said Roman Ross, chief executive officer, CompUSA.

CompUSA will continue to offer products and services at 1-800-CompUSA and online at compusa.com, providing more than 80,000 items for consumers and small and medium businesses, along with top-notch technical service from CompUSA TechPro.

Today's announcement allows the company to focus its efforts and ensure a strong presence in its 103 stores in 39 states and Puerto Rico.

I'm guessing they are close to sold out (if not already). There is also the possibility that they've sent items such as 360's and ps3's to other locations.

Stopped by the one in Lewisville today...talked with an associate who said every week they're going to take a bigger percentage off of their merchandise...I almost bought a PC game, but considering they had about four left of the one I wanted, I figured I'd chance it for a week or two and then buy it cheaper!

How much longer are they going to be open? I think I might go over to the one in Mesquite or Plano after work today to look around. Are they discounting 360's or ps3's?

I didn't see any 360's or ps3's...games and controllers are 10% off, but no systems.

oh, and I didn't ask how much longer they would be open...I'm imagining at least three or four weeks from the way the guy was talking about "discounts going up every week".

Accessories were %30 off in Mesquite. That store the guy said was closing the 25th. But if they ran out of stuff before it would be sooner. I will go back next week once stuff is mostly %50.

I went by the one on 75 today and they were still fully stocked on a lot of items I would like to get. I'm hoping that their copies of photoshop make it to next week since they're sticker price is $100 above what it is most other places.

Stop by the games and see what they have. The one here only had older games.

They had all of the current EA Sports releases for ps2, ps3, and 360's. I think I may get some ps3 accessories now to save money for later when I buy a system.

Did they have any new releases like crackdown or MLB 2k7? I need to go back and see if they still have elder scrolls obvlivion. I think I saw it there but didn't click in my mind to buy it.

If your CompUSA has Age of Empires 1, 2 or 3 cheap buy it, play it and (later)meet some of us to play an online game or two, K. We're still playing all the AoE games and StarCraft, too.:) If you can get the StarCraft Battlechest for under 19-15 bucks, it's a steal.:)

Who-dun-it!!?
