The Texans are pursuing free agent quarterback Jeff Garcia, who was not offered a new contract by Philadelphia.

Because Denver insisted on getting a draft choice for Jake Plummer and the Texans won’t part with any of their picks, they’re trying to sign Garcia, who would replace David Carr as their starter.

The Texans have been expected to trade Carr since last season ended. Once Garcia signs with a new team and is off the market, Carr becomes the most attractive quarterback available.

Garcia, who turns 37 this year, is one of the hottest free agents on the market. When coach Gary Kubiak was the offensive coordinator at Denver, the Broncos tried to acquire Garcia but couldn’t pull it off.

So, what do you think

Has he ever played in anything but a pure West Coast offense? Has he ever excelled anywhere except San Fran and a half season in Philly?

It depends on the price, but I'm not sold on him just yet.

I say sign Garcia and trade Carr to the Vikings for picks. They need a QB.

Garcia would probably get hurt playing behind the Texan's oline....we need a younger guy that has plenty years left....and like russ said, we rnt running the west coast offense, so that is questionable....
