At home or on the road, a Texas freshman has taken the Big 12 by storm. One and done? Maybe. In any event, move over, Vince Young: There's a new hero in town, and his name is Kevin Durant. Andy Katz (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/columns/story?columnist=katz_andy&id=2784631)

No doubt Mr. Durant is going to go for the NBA draft and who can blame him. I knew that when he came to UT. Whoever has the first pick and doesn't pick him will be making almost as bad a choice as Houston did not taking VY which was the worse choice ever.

he should go to the NBA... he probably will go 2nd overall if Oden comes out... centers who are dominant can dominate the game...
most people give Portland a terrible time for not taking Jordan #2... but why not Houston for not taking him #1, because Houston took Akeem...

I may be in the minority but I still do not think that the Texans should have drafted VY... he could not have helped the team that much... they would have been the same... the team got better when the running game improved and teams would have teed off on VY as well...

Scary thing about Texas is that all of their best players are freshmen or sophmores. Could you imagine if those 3 guys last year hadn't declared early how good they'd be? Or can you imagine if these kids actually stayed together for more than a year? It won't happen but holy smokes they'd be a force to reckon with a year or 2 down the road...

Unless he does it this year, probably not. And I wouldn't bet the house against it....remember Danny Manning and Kansas in '88? Sure Manning was a senior but it's not unheard of for a team to jump on one guys back and ride him to the ring.

Carmelo Anthony in '03 is another good example.

JMac was the one that put Syracuse in the final that year as a fish. Mello was huge also.

Phil I realize you like to look at the world through burnt orange glasses, but I think there probably are worse draft picks than Houston passing on VY.
Portland passing on Michael Jordan, perhaps?????????

You might be right, but to pass on a guys like young and bush, just makes me wonder what the heck they were thinking.
