Freaking amazing. The 3A Region II Basketball Tournament set for this weekend has undergone major changes. Since the girls basketball team at A&M-Commerce is winning the conference they are hosting the Lone Star Conference Tournament this weekend and they have decided to move the games to

NOON

and

2 p.m.

Unbelievable. If the schools dont cancel school then the student body will miss the game and many parents will not be able to get off work. Great job Commerce. Move the freaking games to Greenville like you do for the Regional Tennis Tourney since you are a NCAA DIvision II University and dont have nice enough tennis courts to hold it there.

Sounds to me like the UIL screwed up in picking them as a host site.

i think Commerce has done a great job over the years putting on this tournament. They get a LOT of people there every year. I can understand how the college conference tourney would be more important to them but at least move the HS games to another site. They can still host it. Dont make these kids play at Noon on a Friday. Maybe the schools involved will just let school out.

haha

Honestly, though, I'm pretty sure the UIL should handle the tournament being moved... I don't think this should be put on A&M-Commerce...

but hey, just me...

Check out the gym we had to play in last night. It was at McAllen Memorial's gym for a 5a Regional Quarterfinal game. The local college's gym was booked so we had to flip for it. Hundreds of fans were turned away, the fire marshal was on hand as well some cops "just in case" something happened. It felt like 100 degrees in there by halftime. It felt like we were playing in a 2a gym. Made for a great atmoshpere though. Got to shake Bradley Stephens hand.

I am honestly not surprised. Its Commerce.

I do thinks its rediculous that they rescheduled the games for 12 and 2. :(

I must say...Commerce has an awesome court.

They should of had a contingency plan in case they did have to host the LSC Tourney. And the plan shouldn't be moving the games to Noon and 2. That is just rediculous. This isnt just any ole tourney. This can be the last game of some of thise players careers. It needs to be where all their fans can come support.

I'd like to see the Region IV tourney moved from A&M-K to the AmericanBank Center in Downtown Corpus... I think it won't be long before that happens :D

actually i dont think it was. I was with a coach involved in the tourney the other day and when the University realized they were hosting the tournament they called the schools and told them they didn't yet know what they were going to do. They told him they would let him know by 1:30 today the finalized plans. They couldnt give him a straight answer. He then told them he would give them his players parents phone numbers so they could call and explain to them why they will miss their sons game which could be his last.

I just know when I did the girls side a couple of years ago and A&M men were in contention to host that was the plan if they did host the tourney

and even it were their plans to begin with it shows you how ignorant they are.....thats even worse

I can understand why A&M-Commerce wo uld make this mistake though. I know they are used to NOBODY coming to their games and they just thought it was the same for everyone else that plays competative sports.
