Riley Dodge commits to Longhorns
Saturday, February 24, 2007, 03:24 PM

Riley Dodge, quarterback of the Class 5A state champion Southlake Carroll Dragons, said Saturday he had committed to Texas. He became the 12th commitment for the 2008 recruiting class.

Dodge, who was at the Longhorns’ spring practice on Saturday along with 11 other high school juniors, is the son of former Texas quarterback Todd Dodge.

Southlake Carroll running back Tre’ Newton, the son of former Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman Nate Newton, also was at the practice. His parents said he had not made a decision on a school.

That's interesting. The other day it was said that UT didn't make him an offer at Junior Day.

I'm assuming he was offered a scholarship today...says he was at the practice today!

I see him de-committing in the future.

Depends if he actually wants to play or not.

i have to disagree with the idea of dodge decommitting. seeing as his dad went there, and his grandparents live there, i just dont see it happening. ontop of that, yea, cause i said so.:p

I think Texas will de-committ before he does. They'll tell Reiley they want to "Grey-shirt" him and that'll be the end of that. They want Newton, though.

The Newton kid is the real deal.As far as Reiley i think he is just a very good high school QB,maybe play some college ball but not at Texas.

He should go to Missouri.

Riley may shift to WR or defensive back in college. As far as QB, I believe he has the same abilities and Tallent as his dad did, who did play QB at Texas.

Doesn't want to do what? Change positions? He wasn't recruited to Texas as a QB, so if he committed it would seem safe to say he has no problem with it.

im gonna agree with this statement. my sources say he was recruited as an athlete, not a qb. so a position change is likely.
