View Full Version : 3A Downlow tailgate party @ Texas Stadium!!!

How about we organize a 3A Downlow tailgate party at Texas Stadium this Saturday? Any North Texas Downlower's got a pit on wheels? I've got one, but don't really want to drag it all the way to Dallas. I also have a bunch of mesquite I could bring. We could get there early, have a feast and watch some great Texas High School football. I think it would be a great way to meet and greet fellow Downlowers from across the state. What do you say Downlow?

I say, NO FAIR!!! I want to go, but I just don't want to make 2 trips to Dallas (I'm there for Christmas this year) w/in a 2 week span. I'll probably end up making the drive to SA to watch PI & hope that they televise the Burnet/Gainsville game!! (VCR=greatest invention :D )

Who knows I may change my mind at the last minute...it has been known to happen! :D :D

If a championship happens in the San Antonio area, who says there can't be a second tailgate party? I won't be able to make the DII game this year, I'll be watching my daughter get her Master's degree. Else, I'd be pulling together one for that area too. wink

Forcast for Saturday December 13th for DFW.
60% chance of T-Storms high 57° low 40° . Sounds like great tail gate weather to me. I can't provide a BBQ pit, but can bring almost anything else needed. Let's do it.

Ranger Mom

60% chance of rain?? What is rain?? LOL

I guess I had better get to Wal-Mart and get me some umbrellas or slickers or something!!

I don't want to get wet - I might melt!

Seriously though, let me know what time this is going to happen and what I need to bring!

Oh man, eott, you know I'll jump at the chance to meet you. I can't think of anything I'd like any better than that. I've already discussed this with PPHSfan, and we should be able to pull this off. He's checking on a couple of things and should join us on this thread this evening or tomorrow. Hopefully, someone up in that area will be able to bring a pit. Looking forward to it my friend. wink

If Dallas wasn't so far off, I'd be there representing Jasper. A six hour trip though. All worth it to me. If I get a chance to come, I'll see you there.

66, I too am looking forward to meeting you my friend and congrats on your daughter getting her masters. And all the other downlowers that are able to come it will be good to meet you all. I'll bring my digital camera and we can take lots of pics for those that cant make it. RangerMom the forcast changes hourly it seems around here so I wouldn't count on it being accurate. 3 days ago the weather guru's said the high tomorrow was going to be in the 40's, now they are saying in the 70's. I'll keep the board posted on the weather conditions. This is a good thing you are organizing 66, many thanks.

PPHSfan is going to try to get a 3ADownlow flag made by a friend of his. If he does, it will be flying. If he can't, we'll try to get a big sign up on top of a pickup or something. Not to worry, we'll figure something out.

What we really need help with is a pit on wheels. As I stated, I have one but would be taking a big chance dragging it all the way to Dallas and back. I don't have a license plate on it, and will not be able to go get one this week. I really don't need any tickets. Surely somebody up in the area has a pit we can use.

Current plan is for me to arrive and begin setting up around 11:00 am. Most of the sausage is precooked, and will need to only warm up. So, some food should be ready by 12:00. PPHSfan is handling the flag.

I would suggest that any of you that plan to come, please try to provide your own drinks. There will be some, but not enough for everybody.

This tailgate party is open to any active member of 3A Downlow. Both of our main moderators are going to try to attend, although Matthew328 may have to work. Hopefully this will turn out to be an excellent chance to meet a bunch of 3ADL luminaries.

It probably wouldn't hurt if someone could bring some cookies or somethng like that. I will have about four bags of potato chips with some of my favorite dip(raspberry chipotle ranch). Basic rule of thumb, if you're coming, bring something. We'll just do a pot luck deal. Here's what I plan on bringing.

Pit
Mesquite Wood
20 links of sausage
Couple multi packs of flour tortillas
4 bags potato chips
Dip
Salsa
Jalapenos
Bottle of super BBQ sauce
Propane single cook stand
Garbage can and bags
Cooking utensils

The rest of you can bring whatever you want, sandwich makings, finger foods, snacks, whatever.
This can't be coordinated really well, because we have no idea how many will show. Just bring stuff that will almost feed the folks you bring.

I'm planning on trying to grab a spot off the southwest corner of the stadium. So, that would be to the left of the south (Dallas side)entry gate.

It probably wouldn't hurt if someone could bring some cookies or somethng like that. I will have about four bags of potato chips with some of my favorite dip(raspberry chipotle ranch). Basic rule of thumb, if you're coming, bring something. We'll just do a pot luck deal. Here's what I plan on bringing.

Pit
Mesquite Wood
20 links of sausage
Couple multi packs of flour tortillas
4 bags potato chips
Dip
Salsa
Jalapenos
Bottle of super BBQ sauce
Propane single cook stand
Garbage can and bags
Cooking utensils

The rest of you can bring whatever you want, sandwich makings, finger foods, snacks, whatever.

Yeah, I posted further up everyone should plan to provide their own drinks. There will be some there, but probably not enough for everybody. I will have a pot of coffee going, I'm sure.

I'll post a new thread this evening with whatever final details I have by then.

What time is it gonna start, I will be getting at the Stadium around 12-12:30, and I think the plan is for my dad to go ahead and go in and I will stick around outside for awhile. PPHSFan whats the status on the flag??? If there isnt gonna be one then someone needs to make a sign or something that will let us know if were at the right place. Sinton66 what kind of car will you be bringing down?? We need to know what to look for.
