Kennedale came out strong in the third quarter, and the result was a rare loss for the Bulldogs on Saturday, 65-56, in a practice game in Glen Rose.
''We really struggled offensively in the third quarter and struggled defensively in the second half,'' coach Russell Perkins said. ''They were able to do some things to hurt us. They're a very good team and they hadn't lost a game in a long time.''
Helping Kennedale to grab the win was its strong showing at the free throw line. Kennedale went 12-of-13 in the second half and 8-of-9 in the fourth quarter. Wylie, meanwhile, missed 16 from the stripe on the night.
''We've had a lot of teams do things that hurt us and we've been able to overcome that,'' Perkins said. ''But these guys just kept the pressure on us constantly and this time our mistakes kept us from being able to overcome.''
