Since there's the d/l golf thread going...I thought I would ask what courses you've played that you really enjoyed? A few that come to mind for me are:

PGA West Stadium Course This course rates to 75.9 from the tips with a 150 slope rating

The Ridge This is in Hoover, AL and is part of the RTJ Golf Trail

Paa-Ko Ridge This is just east of Albaqurque, NM and is rated the #1 course in New Mexico.

In looking for a picture for this course I found a great Golf Digest write up on the place. http://www.golfdigest.com/courses/critic/index.ssf?/courses/critic/rawls.html

Old Waverly - In Mississippi (Ben Crenshaw said it was the best course nobody will ever play) Held a US Women's Open there.

PGA National - The Bear Course Florida

several Hilton Head courses

Pinehurst - played four of the courses there and did not like #2 that day. The greens were at 11.5 and the pins were in the corners. I did like #7.

Doral - White (did not get to play the Blue Monster.

Boca Raton - great view but the course was being rebuilt and had a lot of construction when I played it.

Glen Abbey - where they used to play the Canadian Open

The best course I have played was Torrey Pines in San Diego. it hosts a PGA event every year. REALLY EXPENSIVE. the nicest Course I have seen but not played was Pinehurst in 2005 at the US OPEN in north carolina. beautiful course! really hot and humid though!

Sad thing is, it is nicer than the Sweetwater Country Club.

I guess my favorite course I've ever played is in Ruidoso, NM at Inn of the Mountain Gods. I saw an awesome course up in Estes Park Colorado but I didn't get to play it. We walked some of it though and saw quite a few elk and some of those little brown bears.

My parents' front yard driving balls across the street into our neighbors' back yard. :)

I haven't played many, but the three nicest I've played were the first three I ever played:
1. The Palmer Course in San Antonio
2. La Cantera (site of the Texas Open)
3. Canyon Springs in San Antonio.

North Shore CC in Portland isn't quite as nice as Canyon Springs, but it's close. Other than that, it's been a bunch of nine-hole courses, public courses, and a college course (TAMU). I still need to check out Raven's Nest in Huntsville. Supposed to be one of the ten best values for a golf course in Texas. Only $7 to walk (student discount) and it looks pretty dang nice.

go to www.golfnow.com and sign up. You can find discount tee times all over. The only thing that sucks is most of them require 2 people at least and all of my friends that play golf live 20-30 minutes away from me. You can find some great rates north of Dallas...like the Tribute for about 1/2 off...and sometimes more.
