View Full Version : It's Rice vs Stanford in College Baseball Nat'l Championship

It starts tomorrow night in a best two of three series. Will Rice be able to keep the national championship in Texas or will Stanford prevail? We will see. Rice has everything going for them. For one thing they will have had two extra days to rest plus Stanford had to play an extra inning in the elimination game Thursday night. Rice has the advantage in that area but we will see if it is enough to win. I hope Rice wins and keeps it in the Lone Star State. Especially since the pressure will be on them next year as defending national champions. It is tough to repeat as defending national champions. Just ask Texas

I'll take Rice in 2, they're in the driver's seat, and i believe will have their 2 studs going in games 1 and 2. Good Luck Owls

I think they win in 2 also....# 1 and 2 pitchers ready to go and closer ready also..they are looking tough

rice in 2, pitching and defense win games, and the errors rice had in the last game vs texas were the first they had had in the entire world series. their pitchers are top notch, just hope they don't have a mental breakdown. lets go owls!!!!!

I thiknk Rice is too strong. Stanford didn't impress me much against Cal St. GO RICE

Today they start. Let's hope the Rice Owls can win it all and keep the national championship trophy in Texas.

Stanford rightfielder is hurting with shoulder injury, but still a dangerous stick on offense. Rice pitching is too strong for Stanford to overcome. GO RICE!!

Bad start for Rice. They gave up three runs in the first inning. In the second inning Rice got two runners on base with no outs but couldn't bring anyone in. At the end of two it is Stanford 3 Rice 0.

Rice is home team, going to bottom of the third Stanford ahead 3-0.

Rice has come back. After 6 innings it is tied 3 to 3.

Rice wins 4-3 in the bottom of the 10th on a bad throw from the pitcher to 1st base that let the runner on second score

If Rice wins tomorrow it is over. If not then the final game will be Monday night. Strange way for a game to be won but in a tight game like that it happens a lot.

Looks like Rice can hang in 'til the end. Hoping for the best for them tomorrow!

It kind of interesting, all the players for Rice are from Houston-except one from The Woodlands and one from Plano. Likewise, the only team that has beat them with consistance was Lamar U. who has nearly a whole team from right around Beaumont, in the Golden Triangle. Guess it proves you don't always have to search the Nation over to put together a great team. Just work with what you have close at hand.

After 7 innings it's Stanford 7 Rice 1. It looks like they will have to play tomorrow night with winner take all.

It is the bottom of the eighth inning and Standford is still ahead 8 to 1. Rice has one more chance at top of the ninth but the chance is very slim. It looks like they will be playing again tomorrow night for sure. Hopefully the Owls will play better and win it. They didn't play bad today except for one bad inning.

Rice came back but still lost 8 to 3. Tomorrow night at 6:00 P.M. they play the final game with the winner being the national champion. Let's hope the Owls can win it.
