Mavericks' Howard an All-Star
01:08 PM CST on Friday, February 9, 2007
From Staff Reports

Mavericks forward Josh Howard will be in the NBA All-Star Game after all.

Howard, who is having a career season averaging 19.6 and 7.3 rebounds per game, was left off the Western Conference roster when the reserves were announced last week. But Howard on Friday was selected by NBA commissioner David Stern as a replacement for one of the injured All-Stars (Yao Ming and Carlos Boozer).

"It is an honor to be selected to my first All-Star team,” said Howard. "This has been a dream of mine since I was a kid. It is especially gratifying to play alongside my teammate Dirk Nowitzki."

Nowitzki and Howard are the Mavericks' representatives for the All-Star Game, which will be played Feb. 18 in Las Vegas.

Howard, in his fourth season, will be making his first All-Star appearance.
