The eager teaching prospect

"Let me see
If I've got this right.
_You want me to go into that room with all those kids,

Fill their every waking moment with a love for learning,

I'm supposed to instill a sense of pride in their ethnicity, modify their disruptive behavior, observe them for signs of abuse and
Even censor their T-shirt messages and dress habits.
You want me to wage a war on drugs and sexually transmitted diseases,
Check their backpacks for weapons of mass destruction, and
Raise their self esteem.
You want me to teach them patriotism, good citizenship, sportsmanship, fair play, how to register to vote,
How to balance a checkbook,
And
_
How to apply for a job.
I am to check their heads for lice, maintain
A safe environment,
Recognize
_
Signs of anti-social behavior, make sure all students pass the state exams,
Even those who don't come to school regularly or
Complete any of their assignments.
Plus,

I am to make sure that all of the students with handicaps
Get an equal education
Regardless
_
Of the extent of their mental
Or physical handicap.
I am to communicate regularly with the parents
By letter, telephone,
Newsletter and report card.
All of this I am to do
With just
A piece of chalk,
A computer,
A few books,
A bulletin board,
A big smile

On a starting salary

huckabay, its the observation hours but i am doing a lot of helping instead of just watching

yea i did mine at the one that has 3rd and 4th grade and i was hard to sit still and actually watch a PE class.

Just like a teacher to blow things out of proportion. There is absolutely NO rule against teachers praying so that is a stupid comment. Teachers can pray as much as anybody in the US. It is just not allowed outloud in the classroom where they mihgt offend anothers sensetivity (btw, I am not opposed to prayer in the classroom).

How are stating simple facts blowing something out of proportion? Hell, if teachers had to go through what people like me put them through, they have definately earned the right to pray out loud in my book.

My problem is; I am sick of teachers whining about their pay. Either shut up or find a different job like the rest of the world. Everybody has a pet peeve, RM you PM'ed me about one of yours when I hit your button one time. Can't I have one that bothers me?
