View Full Version : Posting of "Links"

It has been an unwritten rule since the beginning of 3ADownlow to not allow the posting of links to other 3A sites deemed in direct statewide competition. If you are in doubt, common courtesy is to check with the board's owner (Matthew328)before posting a link. We have received suggestions that we shouldn't have "unwritten" rules, so now it is in written form. Please refer to rule #11.

Please bear in mind that the rules page is a "living" document and will be ammended or appended as necessary. As always, I will try to alert the membership when changes to the rules happen. However, it is a good idea to review the rules every so often, just in case.

This does not apply to individual team or regional based sites.

Does this include links to some of the stuff on www.texashsfootball.com, such as All-Region teams and informative things of that nature? The reason I ask is because they have a message board that goes along with their website.

because in basebase ball you are taught the rules from a young age

on the downlow you are thrown into the fire and expected to already know everything

No, statewide boards that encompass all classifications are not deemed to be in direct competition.

What does it really matter if there is competition? It's not like there are advertisers who would be losing business if less people visited.

It's Matthew's board, and it's his rule. He can grant/forbid links if he wants to. "Mine is not to reason why........"

I can see where you're coming from on the standpoint of rival message boards, but I can't say that I agree with trying to censor information that people would enjoy reading that other sites provide. The Downlow is not a jack-of-all-trades and some websites offer information that this doesn't. I must say that I don't agree with this rule.

Well, I suppose one could send that info in a pm to someone else if they really wanted to. No rule aginst that. As far as posting a link on someone's site, it should NEVER be done without asking permission first. If the board's owner says no, that's just how it is.

Well, I am asking permission to post links from www.texashsfootball.com and other informative football websites that are not trying to compete with the Downlow.

Above it's stated that thsf isn't in direct competition. If there's a question about other specific websites being a competitor or not, send one of us a pm. :)

However I have found that you can ask TOO MANY questions. It gets the mods and admin all irritated.

That is how one acquires wisdom, ask questions. No button pushing has ever been intentional.

I see, then, perhaps you might want to construct your "questions" in a different manner? (Not so easily misunderstood)
