I have an Ibanez AW series acoustic electric...smooth sound. I also like the Taylors but didn't want to fork over a couple of grand to get the one I liked!

How about a nice Martin. I don't know anything about guitars, but one of my highschool buddies had a Martin acoustic.

honestly, ive never even thought of a martin, even when i go to guitar center, it seems like all i end up playing on are either ibanez or takamines. ill have to play on a martin sometime.

What is your price range. I have player Gibsons, Taylors, Takamines on the upper end. Try a Dean on the low to middle end. There are plenty of great guitars.

I had the one above but found I didnt like the jumbo body so I traded in for the one below, it 1 3/4" slimmer, much easier for me to play. I also wanted to go away from the gold hardware - it will eventually tarnish.

Guitars are like cars...everyone has their own idea as to what brand and model is the best! The best way to make a selection is to find one that pleases you, your style of play, your body style, your abilities, what you are going to be using it for etc...

Back in the day, my buddy who was the guitar nut, used to play a lot of folk music which was popular in the 60's. He played a 12-string a lot, and I always liked the full sound it made.

I have an Alvarez acoustic/electric with a split bridge pickup and two outputs. I can send the top three strings to one channel and the bottom 3 to a different one. You can do some wierd things through our church's sound board. I am saving for a Martin, though. Nothing compares to a Martin jumbo except maybe a Gibson J200 (if you are into bluegrass, that is).

to anybody who has any interest. A friend of mine has a Takamine G-series acoustic-electric that is 8 months old and has only been played about 4 or 5 times, the rest of the time it has been in a hard shell case in the back of his closet collecting dust and he is looking to sell it. it is a gorgeous guitar, i can vouch for it because I have seen it. it has a builtin in tuner and all the goodies. he is sellin it with the hardshell case it came with and some other stuff unspecified. PM me if you have any interest. The only reason im not buying it for myself is because Iam Left handed! :(

Martin had a solid top that was right at $700 at Gtr Ctr for a while. I played it in November last year and almost bought it.... great guitar.

Martins and Gibsons are my faves if money was no object.

In the meantime, the Tak will do you well... But I think the Washburn is better.

PS - Buy it, bring it home, then when you are at work, leave teh stereo on playing your favorite tunes and set your gtr in a stand facing the speakers. Helps to break it in a little. That... and playing the heck out of it!
