Well I didn't join a frat last semester, but me and some friends told this one frat we were open pledges for 3 weeks until bid weekend came, but we didn't go. It seems most frats like to give away beer to get recruits. I think I'll fake being a freshman again next August, and hopefully it'll work out just as well.

My letters are in my signature. One of my good friends dad was a PIKE at UT back in the day. I've always thought the party people to be the TKEs. They are kicked off the most campuses anywhere i think. I know some guys who are Sig Ep's and they are pretty cool.

I wouldn't go that far... i became friends with alot of people... turns out they were in an organization that i happened to join after.... Anyway, we did provide a valuable service. We built an entire subdivision with our SA Chapters of our fraternity... Don't blanket judge when you aren't sure of which frats do what...

Last Friday I attended the funeral of a fraternity brother who succumbed to cancer at age 37. It was a large cathedral and it was packed, including roughly 200 "rent a friends." I guess he just had an extremely long lease...

If ya gota pay to feel loved or included or to feel like your a part of something then more power to ya. Look, I said it provides a valuable service.

and the intellectual ones think that people join fraternities because they want to "pay to be friends with people".

Austin College only has local Greek organizations, so it's no "rent-a-friend" service like some people think frats are. Frats are only rent-a-friend when that's all you put into it.
