What are some of your favorite lines from your favorite songs?
Just a few lines that mean something to you, not whole songs because this thread could get really lengthy. Needless to say---no lyrics that break board rules, please.
I have so many, I probably can't think of em' all, but I will as we get going:

Artist: Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band Lyrics
Song: Against the Wind

Against the wind
We were runnin' against the wind
We were young and strong, we were runnin'
Against the wind

The years rolled slowly past
And I found myself alone
Surrounded by strangers I thought were my friends
I found myself further and further from my home
And I guess I lost my way
There were oh so many roads
I was living to run and running to live
Never worryied about paying or even how much I owed
Moving eight miles a minute for months at a time
Breaking all of the rules that would bend
I began to find myself searching
Searching for shelter again and again

ARTIST: The Marshall Tucker Band
TITLE: Heard It in a Love Song

I never had a damn thing, but what I had I had to leave it behind
You're the hardest thing I ever tried to get off of my mind
Always something greener on the other side of that hill
I was born a wrangler and a rounder and I guess I always will

Tool - 10,000 Days (Wings Pt. 2)
What are they going to do when the lights go down?
Without you to guide them all to Zion?
What are they going to do when the rivers overrun?
Other than tremble incessantly.

High is the way, but our eyes are upon the ground
You were the light and the way that they'll only read about.
I only pray Heaven knows when to lift you out.
Ten thousand days in the fire is long enough.
You're going home.

Blue Man Group - Persona
Every morning I put it on, I walk outside and I am gone
And I don't seem to mind anymore, I can't think what it was like before
I wore it all the time.

In the evening I take it off, but there's another one underneath
And I can't seem to find the bottom of the stack
I might just lose my mind and never get it back
But at least I'll get inside

There's a feeling that I get sometimes, It's so small that it's easy to hide
It's like a howling voice from the distant past
It seems I've got no choice, when I come to this
It's building up inside

Mad Season - River of Deceit
My pain is self-chosen
At least, so the prophet says
I could either burn
Or cut off my pride, and buy some time
A head full of lies is the weight, tied to my waist
The River of Deceit pulls down, ohh
The only direction we flow is down
Down, oh down
My pain is self-chosen
At least I believe it to be
I could either drown
Or pull off my skin and swim to shore
Now I can grow a beautiful shell for all to see
The River of Deceit pulls down, yeah
The only direction we flow is down
Down, oh down
The pain is self-chosen, yeah
Our pain is self-chosen
Down, oh down

Artist: Elton John Lyrics
Song: THE ONE

For each man in his time is Cain
Until he walks along the beach
And sees his future in the water
A long lost heart within his reach

This is the one song in life that I can listen to and not feel better about life when it's over.

Artist: Pat Green
Song: Carry On

Everybody's gotta get away sometime
Forget about yourself for a while
If you live your whole live up there on that shelf
You've got no one to blame but your own damn self
Ok
Alright
I just might get _____ tonight (the blank is for whatever mood you might be in...it's a constantly changing lyric when he sings the song)
I'm ok
I'm alright
Carry On

Anybody that has ever travelled to see the person that they love can relate to these words. The distance doesn't matter...you just want to get there.

Artist: Dierks Bentley
Song: Soon As You Can

‘Cause when a man wants to be with a woman
There ain’t no way of gettin’ there too fast

This song always reminded me of my dad...even though that's not the overall direction of the song.

Artist: Nichole Nordeman
Song: I Am

Pencil marks on a wall
I wasn't always this tall,
You scattered some monsters from beneath my bed,
You watched my team win,
You watched my team lose,
You watched when my bicycle went down again,

And When I was weak unable to speak,
still I could call You by name,
and I said “Elbow healer, Superhero,
come if You can,” and You said “I am”

Any single guy (or girl for that matter) can relate to this song because at one point...we've all felt like this.

Artist: Randy Rogers Band
Song: Somebody Take Me Home

I don't wanna go out tonight
But I can't be alone
I'm standin' underneath this broken street light
Can somebody take me home
Can somebody take me home

I cannot tell you that i'm something I'm not

No matter how I try

I'll never be able

To give you something

A Something that I just haven't got

There's only one girl that I will ever love

And that was so many years ago

And though I know I'll never get her out of my heart

She never loved me back oH I know

I remember how she left me on a stormy night

She kissed me and got out of our bed

And though I pleaded and I begged her not to walk out that door

She packed her bags and turned right away

This one's for anybody who's ever had their heart broken...and then gone back for more! ;)

Artist: Randy Rogers Band
Song: This Time Around

I'm gonna break these chains around my broken heart
You could've had it once but you tore it all apart
I'm gonna throw your lying eyes over my left shoulder
I'm not gonna let you wear your crown
This time around

Artist: Blue October
Song: She's my ride home

we drive
to leave the past and clear the mind
to watch the sunset, set its time
i swear you’re fine... i’m your ride home
now close your eyes
it’s getting dark and the highway's clear
no sign of light from front to rear
it’s just you my dear... on the ride home...
we're going home

i'll be reaching for the stars with you... honey
who cares if no one else believes

All of their lyrics are just beautiful.

Artist: The Doors
Song: The End

I'll never look into your eyes...again
Can you picture what will be, So limitless and free
Desperately in need...of some...stranger's hand

I like the entire song, but these 3 little lines....bliss

Artist: Pantera
Song: Walk

Run your mouth when I'm not around, it's easy to achieve
You cry to weak friends that sympathize
Can't you hear the violins playing your song?
Those same friends tell me your every word

Artist: Tool
Song: H

I am too connected to you to
Slip away, to fade away.
Days away I still feel you
Touching me, changing me,
And considerately killing me.

  :D

Nice topic Bull. There are so many other songs.....

Pink Floyd- Wish You Were Here- Entire Song

So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell,
blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found? The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

Neil Young- Needle and the Damage Done

I've seen the needle
and the damage done
A little part of it in everyone
But every junkie's
like a settin' sun.

Bob Dylan- Tangled Up in Blue
I lived with them on Montague Street
In a basement down the stairs
There was music in the caf,s at night
And revolution in the air
Then he started into dealing with slaves
And something inside of him died
She had to sell everything she owned
And froze up inside
And when finally the bottom fell out
I became withdrawn
The only thing I knew how to do
Was to keep on keeping on like a bird that flew
Tangled up in blue.

Dear Leader - Billions Served
Size, the biggest gets the prize.
You can see it in their eyes
Possessed and haunted by
The need to devour.
Arms, raised on factory farms.
Babies sound alarms,
as they feast on the flesh of tomorrow.

There are traces of our tears in the ocean.
There are traces of our cries in the air.
And they mix the mind control with some sugar.
A billion served got the hunger.

SONG: At this Moment

What do you think,
I would give at this moment,
If you stay I'd subtract twenty years from my life..
I'd fall down on my knees,
Kiss the ground that you walk on,
If I could just hold you again..

Simple Man
Lynyrd Skynyrd

Mama told me when I was young
Come sit beside me, my only son
And listen closely to what I say.
And if you do this
It will help you some sunny day.
Take your time... dont live too fast,
Troubles will come and they will pass.
Go find a woman and youll find love,
And dont forget son,
There is someone up above.

And be a simple kind of man.
Be something you love and understand.
Be a simple kind of man.
Wont you do this for me son,
If you can?

Forget your lust for the rich mans gold
All that you need is in your soul,
And you can do this if you try.
All that I want for you my son,
Is to be satisfied.

Boy, dont you worry... youll find yourself.
Follow you heart and nothing else.
And you can do this if you try.
All I want for you my son,
Is to be satisfied.

It doesn't get any better than this my friends.

Who am I to need you when I'm down
Where are you when I need you around
Your life is not your own

And all I ask you
Is for another chance
Another way around you
To live by circumstance, once again

Who am I to need you now
To ask you why to tell you no
To deserve your love and sympathy
You were never meant to belong to me

And you may go, but I know you won't leave
Too many years built into memories
Your life is not your own

Who am I to need you now
To ask you why to tell you no
To deserve your love and sympathy
You were never meant to belong to me

Who am I to you?
Along the way
I lost my faith

And as you were, you'll be again
To mold like clay, to break like dirt
To tear me uo in your sympathy
You were never meant to belong to me
You were never meant to belong to me
You were never meant to belong to me

Who am I?

Crestfallen by The Smashing Pumpkins

I love that song.....:inlove:

And I could keep this thread going for the rest of my life so I will leave it at the one.

A Perfect Circle - Magdalena

I bear witness to this place, this prayer, so long forgotten
So pure, so rare, to witness such an earthly goddess
That I'd sell my soul, my self-esteem a dollar at a time
For one chance, one kiss, one taste of you, my black Madonna
I'd sell my soul, my self-esteem a dollar at a time
For one taste, one taste, one taste of you, my Magdalena

Led Zeppelin- Ten Years Gone

Did you ever really need somebody, And really need 'em bad
Did you ever really want somebody, The best love you ever had
Do you ever remember me, baby, did it feel so good
'Cause it was just the first time, And you knew you would

The Beatles- Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds

Picture yourself in a boat on a river,
With tangerine trees and marmalade skies
Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly,
A girl with kaleidoscope eyes.

Cellophane flowers of yellow and green,
Towering over your head.
Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes,
And she's gone.

{REFRAIN}
Lucy in the sky with diamonds(diamonds).
Lucy in the sky with diamonds(diamonds).
Lucy in the sky with diamonds(diamonds).
Ah... Ah...

{VERSE 2}
Follow her down to a bridge by a fountain
Where rocking horse people eat marshmallow pies,
Everyone smiles as you drift past the flowers,
That grow so incredibly high.
Newspaper taxis appear on the shore,
Waiting to take you away.
Climb in the back with your head in the clouds,
And you're gone.

{REFRAIN}

Picture yourself on a train in a station,
With plasticine porters with looking glass ties,
Suddenly someone is there at the turnstile,
The girl with kaleidoscope eyes.

One of Lennons Best Beatles era songs

I am the Walrus

I am he as you are he as you are me
and we are all together
See how they run like pigs from a gun
see how they fly
I'm crying
Sitting on a cornflake
Waiting for the van to come
Corporation T-shirt, stupid bloody Tuesday
Man you've been a naughty boy
you let your face grow long

I am the eggman
they are the eggmen
I am the walrus
Goo goo g' joob

Mr. city policeman sitting
pretty little policemen in a row
See how they fly like Lucy in the sky
See how they run
I'm crying
I'm crying, I'm crying
Yellow matter custard
Dripping from a dead dog's eye
Crabalocker fishwife
Pornographic priestess
Boy, you've been a naughty girl
you let your knickers down

I am the eggman
They are the eggmen
I am the walrus
Goo goo g' joob

Sitting in an English garden
waiting for the sun
If the sun don't come you get a tan
from standing in the English rain

I am the eggman
They are the eggmen
I am the walrus
Goo goo g' joob

Expert, texpert choking smokers
don't you think the joker laughs at you
See how they smile like pigs in a sty
See how they snide
I'm crying
Semolina pilchard
climbing up the Eiffel tower
Elementary penguin singing Hare Krishna
Man, you should have seen them kicking
Edgar Allan Poe

I am the eggman
They are the eggmen
I am the walrus
Goo goo g' joob
Goo goo g' joob
Goo goo g' goo
goo goo g' joob goo

SEAL LYRICS

"Kiss From A Rose"

There used to be a greying tower alone on the sea.
You became the light on the dark side of me.
Love remained a drug that's the high and not the pill.
But did you know,
That when it snows,
My eyes become large and
The light that you shine can be seen.
Baby,
I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey.
Ooh,
The more I get of you,
Stranger it feels, yeah.
And now that your rose is in bloom.
A light hits the gloom on the grave.
There is so much a man can tell you,
So much he can say.
You remain,
My power, my pleasure, my pain, baby
To me you're like a growing addiction that I can't deny.
Won't you tell me is that healthy, baby?
But did you know,
That when it snows,
My eyes become large and the light that you shine can be seen.
Baby,
I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey.
Ooh, the more I get of you
Stranger it feels, yeah
Now that your rose is in bloom.
A light hits the gloom on the grave,
I've been kissed by a rose on the grave,
I've been kissed by a rose
I've been kissed by a rose on the grave,
...And if I should fall along the way
I've been kissed by a rose
...been kissed by a rose on the grave.
There is so much a man can tell you,
So much he can say.
You remain
My power, my pleasure, my pain.
To me you're like a growing addiction that I can't deny, yeah
Won't you tell me is that healthy, baby.
But did you know,
That when it snows,
My eyes become large and the light that you shine can be seen.
Baby,
I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey.
Ooh, the more I get of you
Stranger it feels, yeah
Now that your rose is in bloom,
A light hits the gloom on the grave.
Yes I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey
Ooh, the more I get of you
Stranger it feels, yeah
And now that your rose is in bloom
A light hits the gloom on the grave
Now that your rose is in bloom,
A light hits the gloom on the grave.

I've got ninety thousand pounds in my pajamas.
I've got forty thousand French francs in my fridge.
I've got lots and lots of lira,
Now the deutschmark's getting dearer,
And my dollar bill could buy the Brooklyn Bridge.

There is nothing quite as wonderful as money!
There is nothing quite as beautiful as cash!
Some people say it's folly, but I'd rather have the lolly,
With money you can make a smash!

There is nothing quite as wonderful as money!
There is nothing like a newly minted pound!
Everyone must hanker for the butchness of a banker,
It's accountancy that makes the world go round!

You can keep your Marxist ways, for it's only just a phase...
Money, money, money makes the world go round!!!

Money! Money! Money! Money! Money! Money! Money! Money! Money!!!

You could have a steam train
if you'd just lay down your tracks
you could have an aeroplane flying
if you bring your blue sky back

all you do is call me
I'll be anything you need

you could have a big dipper
going up and down, all around the bends
you could have a bumper car, bumping
this amusement never ends

I want to be your sledgehammer
why don't you call my name
oh let me be your sledgehammer
this will be my testimony
show me round your fruitcage
'cos I will be your honey bee
open up your fruitcage
where the fruit is as sweet as can

PINK FLOYD- Time

"this song descirbes my current days of unemployment!" lol

"Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
"BADASS SOLO"
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
And racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time has gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say"

Simple Man is great as well.

One i will always love is Boulevard Of Broken Dreams by Green Day ever since that song came out in 2004 I fell for that song it means alot to me i even have it as a ringtone on my cell. I kinda explains my life.

Boulevard Of Broken Dreams
Green Day
2004

I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's only me and I walk alone

I walk this empty street
On the boulevard of broken dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and i walk alone

I walk alone, I walk alone
I walk alone an' I walk a

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that's beating
Sometimes i wish someone out there will find me
Til then I walk alone

Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah Ahhh
Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah

I'm walking down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind
On the border line of the edge
And where i walk alone

Read between the lines what's
messed up and everything's all right
Check my vital signs to know I'm still alive
And I walk alone

I walk alone, I walk alone
I walk alone an I walk a

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Til then I walk alone

Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah Ahhh
Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah

I walk alone I walk a

I walk this empty street
On the boulevard of broken dreams
Where the city sleeps
And i'm the only one and i walk a

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing thats beating
Sometimes i wish someone out there will find me
Til then I walk alone

Part of my new favorite lyric is in my sig

Waylon (via Billy Joe Shaver) - Black Rose

"The devil made me do it the first time
the second time I did it on my own
Lord put a handle on a simple headed man
and help me leave that black rose alone"

---

The Rabbit (dunno if he wrote it or not) - Driving my life away

"Those windshield whipers slappin' down a tempo
keepin' perfect rhythm with the song on the radio-o"

(freakin' brilliant)

---

Anything Guy Clark is brilliant

---

No Justice - Here's to me

"Your silhouette is like the devil
but your eyes are too blue for me to care"

---

Gobbla2001 - Keep it all this way

"The leaves soon fell from the blue sky
they brought with them wind and the cold
winter was never lonely
'til there was no one to hold"

---

Lynardo Skynardo - ALL of Tuesday's Gone and Gimme Three steps, those are just awesome

--

Terry Allen - Amarillo Highway

"I'm a high straight in Plainview
A side-bet in Idalou
and a fresh deck in New Deal..."

"...yah some call me high hand
some call me low hand
but I'm holdin' what I am, the Wheel"

"Well I don't wear no stetson
but I'm willin', to bet, son
that I'm as big A Texan as you are....."

"....there's a girl in her bare-feet
asleep on the back seat
and that trunk's full of Pearl, and Lone Star"

---

Reckless Kelly - Vancouver

"Now I'm packin' it up and I'm rollin' on out to Vancouver
for some wasted youth and a fresh set of lonely stars"

(the line that sold me on Reckless Kelly)

---

I'll think of more...

This song is amazing.. its crazy eddies last hurrah by reckless kelly(awesome band!!) and this is my favorite part of it

Well I gathered up all my guns
And a pipe bomb just for fun
And I drove to her house and parked on the lawn
she's right I always was the crazy one.
Well her boyfriend was sure nice to me
Said calm down would you like a drink
And then I shot him full of holes
From his nose to his knees
And I polished off my little sweet pea
And I'm crying on me knees feeling dirty and unholy
But I'm never getting over Joely
Now I'll probably get life and serve at least forty,
But I'm never getting over Joely

and this is such a true song!!! its High School Never Ends by Bowling for Soup!

Four years you think for sure
That’s all you’ve got to endure
All the total dicks
All the stuck up chicks
So superficial, so immature
Then when you graduate
You take a look around and you say HEY WAIT
This is the same as where I just came from
I thought it was over
Aw that’s just great

The whole damn world is just as obsessed
With who‘s the best dressed and who‘s having sex,
Who‘s got the money, who gets the honeys,
Who‘s kinda cute and who‘s just a mess
And you still don’t have the right look
And you don’t have the right friends
Nothing changes but the faces, the names, and the trends
High school never ends

Check out the popular kids
You’ll never guess what Jessica did
How did Mary Kate lose all that weight
And Katie had a baby so I guess Tom’s straight
And the only thing that matters
Is climbing up that social ladder
Still care about your hair and the car you drive
Doesn’t matter if you’re sixteen or thirty-five

Reese Witherspoon,
She’s the prom queen
Bill Gates,
Captain of the chess team
Jack Black, the clown
Brad Pitt, the quarterback
I’ve seen it all before
I want my money back

The whole damn world is just as obsessed
With who’s the best dressed and who’s having sex,
Who’s in the clubs and who’s on the drugs,
Who’s throwing up before they digest
And you still don’t have the right look
And you don’t have the right friends
And you’re still listen to the same sh!t you did back then
High school never ends

High school never ends

The whole damn world is just as obsessed
With who‘s the best dressed and who‘s having sex,
Who‘s got the money, who gets the honeys,
Who‘s kinda cute and who‘s just a mess
And I still don’t have the right look
And I still have the same three friends
And I’m pretty much the same as I was back then

Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin

There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven
And when she gets there she knows if the stores are closed
With a word she can get what she came for

Woe oh oh oh oh oh
And she's buying a stairway to heaven

There's a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure
And you know sometimes words have two meanings
In the tree by the brook there's a songbird who sings
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven

Woe oh oh oh oh oh
And she's buying a stairway to heaven

There's a feeling I get when I look to the west
And my spirit is crying for leaving
In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees
And the voices of those who stand looking

Woe oh oh oh oh oh
And she's buying a stairway to heaven

And it's whispered that soon, if we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason
And a new day will dawn for those who stand long
And the forest will echo with laughter

And it makes me wonder

If there's a bustle in your hedgerow
Don't be alarmed now
It's just a spring clean for the May Queen

Yes there are two paths you can go by
but in the long run
There's still time to change the road you're on

Your head is humming and it won't go because you don't know
The piper's calling you to join him
Dear lady can't you hear the wind blow and did you know
Your stairway lies on the whispering wind

And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our souls
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll
Woe oh oh oh oh oh
And she's buying a stairway to heaven

There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven
And when she gets there she knows if the stores are closed
With a word she can get what she came for

And she's buying a stairway to heaven, uh uh uh.

The President Song - Cody Canada

Oh If I were president
I'd make you understand
No more questions no more lies - id tell you the truth lookin in your eyes
If I were president
Well first most and foremost son jesus christ is the only one you gotta talk to when your day begins

I'm gonna pass a law that says everyday you gotta get down on your knees and pray and thank the man for dyin for your sins

If I were president
I would make you understand - jesus is the man, hes the reason that you stand - if i were president

We're gonna put the word out on the street no more washington dc - im gonna make this country big and strong
no more payin of your taxes, the capitals in pampa, tx - thats the only place a house that big belongs

If i were president - the blue collar man wont get the shaft - nobodys gonna laugh when jerry jeff's my chief of staff

If i were president

Well iraqi boys you must be nuts you're diggin yourself deeper in a rut - i got a way to end your problems soon - we'll bring home every one of our boys, pull out our biggest baddest toy and blow you crazy bastards to the moon
If i were president, nobodys gonna push us around - if they threaten us or put us down, we'll burn their country to the ground

If i were president

Well I got one for you sadam hussein we'll resurrect general john wayne and put together a very simple plan - put down our nukes put down our guns and you and the duke will be one on one and he'll kick your ass as if you were a man

If i were president
If i were president

If you dont like willie nelson, you're gotta go to prison

If i were president

So cast your vote and make it me and if i win the beer is free

IF I WERE PRESIDENT

seventy times seven by brand new...probably the greatest song ever

So, is that what you call a getaway?
Tell me what you got away with.
Cause I've seen more spine in jellyfish.
I've seen more guts in eleven-year-old kids.
Have another drink and drive yourself home.
I hope there's ice on all the roads.
And you can think of me when you forget your seatbelt,
and again when your head goes through the windshield.

And is that what you call tact?
You're as subtle as a brick in the small of my back.
So let's end this call, and end this conversation.
and is that what you call a getaway?
well tell me what you got away with.
cause you left the frays from the ties you severed
when you say best friends means friends forever

Song: Wear My Ring

Little angel with the bottle
I don't love you, anymore
Yeah I spent some time out
With the Devil
You don't hurt me anymore
I waste my time
and I waste my money
on a broken dream
cause you won't wear my ring
Baby give me back my ring!

That's the chorus anyways.

My 5 year old can sing the whole thing and even play a mean air guitar in the instrumental portions. It's extremely funny to watch.

Four years you think for sure
That’s all you’ve got to endure
All the total dicks

I gotta agree with T on this one. What's really cool is that these guys got together in Wichita Falls while attending MSU and were "THE" band to see back in my bar hopping heyday of the late 90's. I've been following them since about 1995 and actually had classes with the bass player, really nice guy I might add. I think it's great that they managed to stay together and keep pouring their hearts and souls into their music for over a decade before they finally hit the big time.

Ahhhh... T busted out with Crazy Eddie... that's beautiful...

"Well it sure didn't take too long
yah I woke up one mornin' she was gone
and the note that she wrote didn't say Dear John
just said Good-Bye sucker I'm gone (sucker is edited version)"

That's why they're in my sig, the baddest band of all time (in my opinion of course)...

Hope they can give us 10 more years, have a feelin' they're just gettin' started...

Also, I love that Bart Crow song... heard it for the first time when I ran up to Fort Worth late last November... I'm thinking about ordering that CD...

PS. I can sing and play it very well...

Some of the greatest lyrics ever written:

SONG: How Great Thou Art
Lyrics: words & music by Carl G. Boberg and R.J. Hughes

O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.

another one a lot of people can relate with would be Randy Rogers Band's "If I told you the Truth"

Well, here we go again with the back and forth
Trying to open up the same closed door
Well, I wear my pride, you hide your pain
We both know there's no winning
But we still play the game

Chorus:
If I told you that I need you
Would you run or stay with me?
Would you steal my heart again and set me free?
If I told you I would never leave you
Would you come unglued?
What would you do?
If I told you the truth

Some old reasons, same excuses and lies
We've said it all before with the same goodbye
I can't let you leave me
You won't let me go
Before we do this again, there's something you ought to know

Repeat Chorus

And I can't take away the past
But I can't give up on us
I just hope that all I am will someday be enough

Repeat Chorus
What would you do?
If I told you the truth

ARTIST: Jefferson Starship
SONG: Nothing's Going to Stop Us Now

Lookin' in your eyes I see a paradise
This world that I found is too good to be true
Standing here beside you, want so much to give you
This love in my heart and I feel it for you
Let 'em say we're crazy, I'll give a path
Put your hands in my hand baby don't ever look back
Let the world around us, just fall apart
Baby we can make it if we're heart to heart
And we can build this thing together
Standing strong forever
Nothing's gonna stop us now

And if this world runs out of lovers
We'll still have each other
Nothing's gonna stop us
Nothing's gonna stop us
I'm so glad I found you
I'm not gonna lose you
Whatever it takes
I will stay here with you
Take it to the good times
See it through the bad times
Whatever it takes is what I'm gonna do

this song is the best song to describe me

Small Town Kid by Eli Young Band

('Cause) I'm a small town kid, driven by rock music
And some honky-tonk, in the mix
I like whiskey in coke, a double to the top
A shot of cuervo now and then
I never ask for a lot, I'll never need much
Just a good-looking lady who can drive my truck
I'm not afraid to admit, I'm that small town kid

This song is my all time favorite it is mine and my ex boyfriends song and i get tears when i hear it

Alabama by Cross Canadian Raweed

she picked up the telephone
All she heard was dial tone
She really thought she heard it ring this time
She said what am I thinking I must be only dreaming
Or maybe it’s the hundred times he’s crossed my mind
Just tonight

(chorus)

She said maybe I miss your lovin’
Maybe I miss your kiss just a little bit
Maybe I miss your body lyin’ right next to mine
Maybe I miss your touch a little too much

Tossing and turning her skins still burning
From the fire in his hands
Runnin’ on empty she needs somebody
But somebody wouldn’t understand
Then the telephone rings

(chorus)

They talked about Savannah
Sweet home Alabama
And how he missed the way she always smiled
Are you coming back soon
By the Harvest moon
If I have to walk every mile on my knees

My wife and I song "Waiting for a girl like you" by Foriegner

So long, I've been looking too hard, I've been waiting too long
Sometimes I don't know what I will find, I only know it's a matter of time
When you love someone, when you love someone
It feels so right, so warm and true, I need to know if you feel it too

Maybe I'm wrong, won't you tell me if I'm coming on too strong
This heart of mine has been hurt before, this time I wanna be sure

I've been waiting for a girl like you to come into my life
I've been waiting for a girl like you, your loving will survive
I've been waiting for someone new to make me feel alive
Yeah, waiting for a girl like you to come into my life

You're so good, when we make love it's understood
It's more than a touch or a word can say
Only in dreams could it be this way
When you love someone, yeah, really love someone

Now I know it's right, from the moment I wake up till deep in the night
There's nowhere on earth that I'd rather be than holding you tenderly

I've been waiting for a girl like you to come into my life
I've been waiting for a girl like you, your loving will survive
I've been waiting for someone new to make me feel alive
Yeah, waiting for a girl like you to come into my life

I've been waiting, waiting for you, ooh, I've been waiting
I've been waiting
(I've been waiting for a girl like you, I've been waiting)
Won't you come into my life?

Pearl Jam - Nothingman

Once divided...nothing left to subtract...
Some words when spoken...can't be taken back...
Walks on his own...with thoughts he can't help thinking...
Future's above...but in the past he's slow and sinking...
Caught a bolt 'a lightnin'...cursed the day he let it go...

Nothingman... Nothingman
Isn't it something? Nothingman

She once believed...in every story he had to tell...
One day she stiffened...took the other side...
Empty stares...from each corner of a shared prison cell...
One just escapes...one's left inside the well...
And he who forgets...will be destined to remember...oh...oh...oh...

Nothingman... Nothingman
Isn't it something? Nothingman

Oh, she don't want him...
Oh, she won't feed him...after he's flown away...
Oh, into the sun...ah, into the sun...

Burn...burn...
Nothingman... Nothingman
Isn't it something?
Nothingman...Nothingman...
Coulda' been something...
Nothingman...
Oh...ohh...ohh...

Jethro Tull
My God

People -- what have you done --
locked Him in His golden cage.
Made Him bend to your religion --
Him resurrected from the grave.
He is the god of nothing --
if that's all that you can see.
You are the god of everything --
He's inside you and me.
So lean upon Him gently
and don't call on Him to save you
from your social graces
and the sins you used to waive.
The bloody Church of England --
in chains of history --
requests your earthly presence at
the vicarage for tea.
And the graven image you-know-who --
with His plastic crucifix --
he's got him fixed --
confuses me as to who and where and why --
as to how he gets his kicks.
Confessing to the endless sin --
the endless whining sounds.
You'll be praying till next Thursday to
all the gods that you can count

Any song with an electric flute solo is just alright with me.

With every touch i
melt into the snow.
Can you feel it?
From rooftops see where dreams will lead.
Another life far from here,
see it in your eyes,
the stars lie there.
Fan you fly with me?
Through this cosmic collision.
Super nova.
When two hearts collide,
shining from inside.

i feel it,
in every word you say.
you'll be my star.
Just like a stellar transmission
from miles away.
So take a ride with me out there.
Leave it all behind.

A december dream
started with you.
Can you hear me calling you?
Fall into your arms.
Take you away from here.
Through this cosmic collision.
Super nova.
When two hearts collide,
shining from inside.

Super...Nova...Quiet...Hold on.
Breathe in...Exhale.
Can you feel it?
Steady...in motion...fly

through this cosmic collision.
Can you feel us?
We're about to super nova.
Nova.
Nova.

brand new - okay i believe you, but my tommy gun don't

Oh, we're so c-c-c-c-c-controversial.
we are entirely smooth.
we admit to the truth,
we are the best at what we do.
and these are the words you wish you wrote down.
this is the way you wish your voice sounds,
handsome and smart.
oh my tongue's the only muscle on my body
that works harder than my heart.
and its all from watching tv,
and from speeding up my breathing.
wouldnt stop if i could.
oh it hurts to be this good.
you're holding on to your grudge.
oh it hurts to always have to be honest
with the one that you love.
oh, so let it go..

and even though these are mean or whatever, i've liked these lyrics since the first time i heard this song....

"Please" by Staind..he's a bit upset with a past relationship....

Can't you see that I'm sick of this?
Chances are you're oblivious to how I feel
Sitting on your throne, and I'm sure that I'm not alone,
Not alone, not alone.

Tell me please,
Who the did you want me to be?
Was it something that I couldn't see?
Never knew this would be so political.
And please, I'm still wearing this miserable skin
And it's starting to tear from within
But it's obvious that doesn't bother you, so please

I didn't think that you'd sell me out
Now I know what you're all about.
You might feel in control of things.
But you're not holding all the strings.
All the strings, all the strings.

Tell me please,
Who the did you want me to be?
Was it something that I couldn't see?
Never knew this would be so political.
And please, I'm still wearing this miserable skin
And it's starting to tear from within
But it's obvious that doesn't matter to you,
So please

I've swallowed all your answers
I've swallowed all my pride
You've used up all your chances
Can't keep this all inside

Tell me please,
Who the did you want me to be?
Was it something that I couldn't see?
Never knew this would be so political.
And please, I'm still wearing this miserable skin
And it's starting to tear from within
But it's obvious that doesn't bother you

So please don't keep telling me that it's ok
I don't buy all the that you say
And quite honestly I'm sick of it
so please if I cut off this nose from my face
Then I wouldn't feel so out of place
But it still wouldn't be quite enough for you,
so please.

that song rocks.

Angels on the sideline
Puzzled and amuzed.
Why did Father give these humans free will?
Now they're all confused.
Don't these talking monkeys know that Eden has
Enough to go around?
Plenty in this holy garden
Silly monkeys
Where there's one they're bound to divide it
Right in two.

Angels on the sideline
Baffled and confused.
Father blessed them all with reason
And this is what they choose.
Monkey killing monkey killing monkey over
Pieces of the ground.
Silly monkeys
Give them thumbs they forge a blade
And where there's one they're bound to divide it
Right in two.

Monkey killing monkey killing monkey over
Pieces of the ground.
Silly monkeys
Give them thumbs they make a club
And beat their brother down.
How they survive so misguided is a mystery.
Repugnant is a creature who would
Squander the ability
To life an eye to Heaven
Conscious
Of his fleeting time here.

Fight over ground, over earth, over sky.
They fight over life, over blood, over air and light,
over love, over some, over none.
They fight or they die, Over what?
Over writing!

Angels on the sideline again,
Benched along with patience and reason.
Angels on the sideline again,
Wondering where this tug of war will end.

Song: So Far Away Lyrics

This is my life
Its not what it was before
All these feelings I’ve shared
And these are my dreams
That I’d never lived before
Somebody shake me
Cause I, I must be sleeping

(chorus)
Now that we're here,
It's so far away
All the struggle we thought was in vain
All the mistakes,
One life contained
They all finally start to go away
Now that we're here its so far away
And I feel like I can face the day
I can forgive and I’m not ashamed to be the person that I am today

Tupac Lyrics

Intro of "Shed So Many Tears"

I shall fear no man, but God
though I walk through tha valley of death
I shed so many tears
Please God walk with me...

Keep Ya Head Up

Time to heal our women, be real to our women
And if we don't then we'll have a race of babies
That hate the ladies that make the babies
And since a man can't make one
HE HAS NO RIGHT TO TELL A WOMEN WHEN AND WHERE TO CREATE ONE
So would the real men get up
I know your fed up ladies, but keep your head up

Ive always like these lyrics from Metallica's Eye of the Beholder.

Doesn't Matter What You See
Or into it What You Read
You Can Do it Your Own Way
If It's Done Just How I Say

Independence Limited
Freedom of Choice
Choice Is Made for You My Friend
Freedom of Speech
Speech Is Words That They Will Bend

RATM's Know Your Enemy

Born with insight and a raised fist
A witness to the slit wrist, that's with
As we move into '92
Still in a room without a view
Ya got to know
Ya got to know
That when I say go, go, go
Amp up and amplify
Defy
I'm a brother with a furious mind
Action must be taken
We don't need the key
We'll break in

Something must be done
About vengeance, a badge and a gun
'Cause I'll rip the mike, rip the stage, rip the system
I was born to rage against 'em

Fist in ya face, in the place
And I'll drop the style clearly
Know your enemy...Know your enemy!

In the clearing stands a boxer
And a fighter by his trade,
And he carries the reminders
Of every glove that laid him down
Or cut him till he cried out
In his anger and his shame,
"I am leaving, I am leaving!"
But the fighter still remains.

COW PATTI

Jim Stafford - 1980

From the badlands came the killer,
He lived by his knife and the gun.
He'd cut you just for standing
And shoot you if you tried to run.
He was as big as a tree and did what he pleased,
And everything he did was bad.
They said, if you was to kill him,
It'd only make him mad.

From the goodlands came the cowgirl,
Patti was her name.
She was hot on the trail of that killer
On a moped she called Flame,
'Cause the killer had killed her daddy
Just for spittin' in the road,
And you only had to kill her daddy once
To get that gal p.o.'d.

CHORUS:
Yippee-i-ay, Cow Patti.
Yippee-i-ay, Cow Patti.
She rode into town
To find the man
That killed her daddy.
Yippee-i-ay, Cow Patti.

The killer hit town at daybreak,
Ate the door off the local saloon.
He started to drink,
You could tell there'd be a showdown soon.
Patti hit town in a cloud of dust,
Old Flame was buzzin' like a saw,
And the whole town got quiet as a church,
When the killer stepped out for the draw.

Forty shots rang out, forty people fell.
Patti and the killer missed each other,
But they shot the town to hell.
The killer took a step toward Patti,
Said, "It's time I gunned you down",
But he slipped in something
That was laying in the street,
And was shot before he hit the ground.

Yes, the killer slipped
And it cost him his life,
And Patti said, as she raced out of town,
"You got to watch your step,
When you know the chips are down."

Yippee-i-ay, Cow Patti.
Yippee-i-ay, Cow Patti.
She rode into town
To find the man
That killed her daddy.
Yippee-i-ay, Cow Patti.

my favorite one to sing and play

She Sang the Red River Valley - Pinto Bennett (as performed by Reckless Kelly on their Live at Stubbs album):

V1
At general delivery, she picks up her mail
Mama says Johnny just got out of jail
She hopes he don't know where she's at
How could she had ever loved that kind of cat

CH
She remembers the dance in the moonlight
From the hall to the back of his car
He taught her how to drink whiskey
Three chords on a pawnshop guitar

She remembers the first time he kissed her
Back when the feeling was new
She sang the Red River Valley
For the cowboy who loved her so true

V2
She's working each night at what she knows best
Hanging in bars with professional guests
She picks up young buckaroo
Because he reminds her of someone she knew

(solo break)

V3
Telephone rings off the hook by her bed
The other ends Johnny with a gun to his head
Said you always looked good in black
The next thing she heard was a bone chilling crack

(bridge, I guess hell I dunno)

She pulled into town just at sunrise
Mama had strong coffee on
Said "You know he's always been crazy
Its best for us all that he's gone"

(another bridge, or whatever you call it)

So at the request of the family
Service was held for a few
She sang the Red River Valley
For the cowboy who loved her so true

CH
She remembered the dance in the moon light
From the hall to the back of his car
He taught her how to drink whiske
Three chords on a pawn shop guitar

She remembered the first time he kissed her
Back when the feeling was new
She sang the Red River Valley
For the cowboy who loved her so true

Over You
Now that it?s all said and done
I can?t believe you were the one
To build me up and tear me down
Like an old abandoned house
What you said when you left
Just left me cold and out of breath
I felt as if I was in way to deep
Guess I let you get the best of meeee

(Chorus)
Well I never saw it coming
I should have started running
A long, long time agooo!
And I never thought I?d doubt you
I?m better off without you
More than you, more than you know
I?m slowly getting closure
I guess it?s really over
I?m finally gettin? better
Now I?m picking up the pieces
From spending all of these years
Putting my heart back together
?Cause the day I thought I?d never get through
I got over you!!!
(End Chorus)

You took a hammer to these walls
Dragged the memories down the hall
Packed your bags and walked away
There was nothing I could say,
And when you slammed the front door shut
A lot of other?s opened up
So did my eyes so I could see
That you never were the best for meee

(Chorus)
Well I never saw it coming
I should have started running
A long, long time agooo!
And I never thought I?d doubt you
I?m better off without you
More than you, more than you know
I?m slowly getting closure
I guess it?s really over
I?m finally getting? better
Now I?m picking up the pieces
From spending all of these years
Putting my heart back together
?Cause the day I thought I?d never get through
I got over you!!!
(End Chorus)

I never saw it coming
I should have started running
A long, long time agooo
And I never thought I?d doubt you
I?m better off without you

And I never saw it coming
I should have started running
I?m finally getting better
Now I?m picking up the pieces
From spending all of these years
Putting my heart back together
And I got over you!!!
And I got over you!!!
And I got over you!!!

The day I thought I?d never get through
I got over you?

Great big lies.

And tiny little teeth.
They wear platform shoes
On their nasty little feet.

Kanye West - Roses

I know it's past visiting hours
But can I please give her these flowers
The doctor dont wanna take procedures
He claimed my heart can't take the anastesia
It'll send her body into a seizure
The little thing by the hospital bed, it'll stop beeping,
Hey chick, im at a lost for words
What do you say at this time?
Remember when I was nine?
Tell her everything gone be fine?
But i'd be lying, the family crying
They want her to live, and she trying
I'm argueing like what kind of doctor can we fly in
You know the best medicine go to people thats paid,
If Magic Johnson got a cure for A.I.D.'s
And all the broke suckers past away
You tellin me if my grandma was in the N.B.A.
Right now she'd be ok?
But since she was just a secretary
Working for the church
For thirty five years
Things sposed to stop right here
My grandfather tryin to pull it together, he strong,
Thats where I get my confidence from
I asked the nurse "did you do the research?"
She ask me, "can you sign some t-shirts?"
Chick is you smokin reefer?
You dont see that we hurt
But still...

They outside of the emergancy room, room
You can feel my heart beat, beat, beat
If she gone pull through
We gone find out soon
But right now she sleep, sleep, sleep
My mama say, they say she could pass away any day
Hey chick what these doctors know anyway
Let me see the X-rays
I ain't no expert, I'm just hurt
Cousin Kim took off for work
Plus my Aunt Shirley, Aunt Beverly, Aunt Claire and Aunt Jean
So many Aunties, we could have an Auntie team
Feel like Amerie "Its this one thing"
When they said that she made it
You see the eyes gleam
I think we at an all time high
To get there we run, we fly, we drive
Coz with my family we know where home is
So instead of sending flowers
We the roses...

I like the flow of this song more than the lyrics, but here goes:

Subterranean Homesick Blues - Dylan

Johnny's in the basement
Mixing up the medicine
I'm on the pavement
Thinking about the government
The man in the trench coat
Badge out, laid off
Says he's got a bad cough
Wants to get it paid off
Look out kid
It's somethin' you did
God knows when
But you're doin' it again
You better duck down the alley way
Lookin' for a new friend
The man in the coon-skin cap
In the big pen
Wants eleven dollar bills
You only got ten

Maggie comes fleet foot
Face full of black soot
Talkin' that the heat put
Plants in the bed but
The phone's tapped anyway
Maggie says that many say
They must bust in early May
Orders from the D. A.
Look out kid
Don't matter what you did
Walk on your tip toes
Don't try "No Doz"
Better stay away from those
That carry around a fire hose
Keep a clean nose
Watch the plain clothes
You don't need a weather man
To know which way the wind blows

Get sick, get well
Hang around a ink well
Ring bell, hard to tell
If anything is goin' to sell
Try hard, get barred
Get back, write braille
Get jailed, jump bail
Join the army, if you fail
Look out kid
You're gonna get hit
But users, cheaters
Six-time losers
Hang around the theaters
Girl by the whirlpool
Lookin' for a new fool
Don't follow leaders
Watch the parkin' meters

Ah get born, keep warm
Short pants, romance, learn to dance
Get dressed, get blessed
Try to be a success
Please her, please him, buy gifts
Don't steal, don't lift
Twenty years of schoolin'
And they put you on the day shift
Look out kid
They keep it all hid
Better jump down a manhole
Light yourself a candle
Don't wear sandals
Try to avoid the scandals
Don't wanna be a bum
You better chew gum
The pump don't work
'Cause the vandals took the handles

love it love it

Texas 1947 - Guy Clark

Now bein' six years old, I had seen some trains before,
so it's hard to figure out what I'm at the depot for.

Trains are big and black and smokin' - steam screamin' at the wheels,
bigger than anything they is, at least that's the way she feels

Trains are big and black and smokin', louder'n July four,
but everybody's actin' like this might be somethin' more. . .

. . .than just pickin' up the mail, or the soldiers from the war.
This is somethin' that even old man Wileman never seen before.

And it's late afternoon on a hot Texas day.
somethin' strange is goin' on, and we's all in the way.

Well there's fifty or sixty people they're just sittin' on their cars,
and the old men left their dominos and they come down from the bars.

Everybody's checkin', old Jack Kittrel check his watch,
and us kids put our ears to the rails to hear 'em pop.

So we already knowed it, when they finally said 'train time'
you'd a-thought that Jesus Christ his-self was rollin' down the line.

'Cause things got real quiet, momma jerked me back,
But not before I'd got the chance to lay a nickel on the track.

Chorus
Look out here she comes, she's comin',
Look out there she goes, she's gone,
screamin' straight through Texas
like a mad dog cyclone.

Big, red, and silver,
she don't make no smoke,
she's a fast-rollin' streamline
come to show the folks.

Look out here she comes, she's comin'
Look out there she goes, she's gone,
screamin' straight through Texas
like a mad dog cyclone.

. . .Lord, she never even stopped.

She left fifty or sixty people still sittin' on their cars,
and they're wonderin' what it's comin' to
and how it got this far.

Oh but me I got a nickel smashed flatter than a dime
by a mad dog, runaway red-silver streamline. . . train

Loving You - Reckless Kelly (pretty sure it's one of their originals)

Ever since I was kissed off
I've been more than slightly pissed off
So I wrote this song to tell you how I feel
Sure it's true you're pretty
You're charming, warm, and witty
But other than that, you just ain't no big deal

So darling, here's my message
Read it loud and clear
Get your head out of your ass and get your ass right out of here
Cause there's no percentage in you
There ain't nothing to be won
Loving you's the dumbest f**king thing I've ever done

Well I placed you high above me
I let you push and shove me
Like a lovesick fool, I took it all in stride
I let you annoy me
But I won't let you destroy me
This song is proof that I've still got my pride

So darling, here's my message
Read it loud and clear
Get your head out of your ass and get your ass right out of here
Cause there's no percentage in you
There ain't nothing to be won
Loving you's the dumbest f**king thing I've ever done

I said loving you's the dumbest f**king thing I've ever done

I heard this song at lunch and haven't been able to get it out of my head

FOREVER YOUNG
(R. Stewart/J.Cregan/K.Savigar)

May the good Lord be with you
Down every road you roam
And may sunshine and happiness
surround you when you're far from home
And may you grow to be proud
Dignified and true
And do unto others
As you'd have done to you
Be courageous and be brave
And in my heart you'll always stay
Forever Young, Forever Young
Forever Young, Forever Young

May good fortune be with you
May your guiding light be strong
Build a stairway to heaven
with a prince or a vagabond

And may you never love in vain
and in my heart you will remain
Forever Young, Forever Young
Forever Young, Forever Young
Forever Young
Forever Young

And when you finally fly away
I'll be hoping that I served you well
For all the wisdom of a lifetime
No one can ever tell

But whatever road you choose
I'm right behind you, win or lose
Forever Young, Forever Young
Forever Young ,Forever Young
Forever Young, Forever Young
For, Forever Young, Forever Young

Dylan's Forever Young is better

May God bless and keep you always,
May your wishes all come true,
May you always do for others
And let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous,
May you grow up to be true,
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you.
May you always be courageous,
Stand upright and be strong,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy,
May your feet always be swift,
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful,
May your song always be sung,
May you stay forever young,
Forever young, forever young,
May you stay forever young.

Small Town

You can talk about the weather
Or the mayor's sister
You can talk about small talk
You can walk the city limits
In a matter of minutes
Talk about taking a walk
You can count the stars in the clear night sky
Or sit back and listen while the train rolls by
Hey it's a small town
They roll the sidewalks up
Come around sundown
Hey it's a small town
The place where we grew up
And still hang around
That rich young widow
Keeps talkin' to the preacher
Lord help their souls be saved
And Mr. Johnson's daughter
Flew in from Nevada
When they put him in his grave
Tommy took a summer job in Pontiac
He's still writing letters but he's not coming back
Hey it's a small town
They roll the sidewalks up
Come around sundown
Hey it's a small town
The place where we grew up
And still hang around
Hey it's a small town
They roll the sidewalks up
Come around sundown
Hey it's a small town
The place where we grew up
And still hang around
I'm easy to be found
Hey it's a small town.

I didn't have to turn my head whenever you walked in
The only one to let these chills roll down my skin
My heart beats faster I hear your name
I feel my confidence slipping away

Thought I was doing fine bout to get you off my mind
I see you face and then I'm wrapped around your pretty little finger again

It feels like ages since you lay down in my arms
I see no good reason still I'm tangled in your charms
My god you're smiling you catch my eyes
My heart is pounding deep inside

find me here
and speak to me
I want to feel you
I need to hear you
you are the light
that's leading me
to the place
where I find peace again

you are the strength
that keeps me walking
you are the hope
that keeps me trusting
you are the life
to my soul
you are my purpose
you're everything

and how can I
stand here with you
and not be moved by you
would you tell me
how could it be
any better than this yeah

you calm the storms
and you give me rest
you hold me in your hands
you won't let me fall
you still my heart
and you take my breath away
would you take me in
take me deeper now

and how can I
stand here with you
and not be moved by you
would you tell me
how could it be
any better than this

and how can I
stand here with you
and not be moved by you
would you tell me
how could it be
any better than this

cause you're all I want
you're all I need
you're everything
everything

you're all I want
you're all I need
you're everything
everything

you're all I want
you're all I need
you're everything
everything

you're all I want
you're all I need
you're everything
everything

and how can I
stand here with you
and not be moved by you
would you tell me
how could it be
any better than this

and how can I
stand here with you
and not be moved by you
would you tell me
how could it be

would you tell me

Folsom Prison Blues
I hear the train a comin'
it's rolling round the bend
and I ain't seen the sunshine since I don't know when,
I'm stuck in Folsom prison, and time keeps draggin' on
but that train keeps a rollin' on down to San Anton..
When I was just a baby my mama told me. Son,
always be a good boy, don't ever play with guns.
But I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die
now every time I hear that whistle I hang my head and cry..

I bet there's rich folks eating in a fancy dining car
they're probably drinkin' coffee and smoking big cigars.
Well I know I had it coming, I know I can't be free
but those people keep a movin'
and that's what tortures me...

Well if they'd free me from this prison,
if that railroad train was mine
I bet I'd move just a little further down the line
far from Folsom prison, that's where I want to stay
and I'd let that lonesome whistle blow my blues away.....

Can't go wrong with Matchbox 20

3AM

She says its cold outside and she hands me my raincoat
Shes always worried about things like that
She says its all gonna end and it might as well be my fault
And she only sleeps when its raining
And she screams and her voice is straining
(chorus)
She says baby
Its 3am I must be lonely
When she says baby
Well I cant help but be scared of it all sometimes
Says the rains gonna wash away I believe it

Shes got a little bit of something, God its better than nothing
And in her color portrait world she believes that shes got it all
She swears the moon dont hang quite as high as it used to
And she only sleep when its raining
And she screams and her is straining
(chorus)
She believes that life is made up of all that youre used to
And the clock on the wall has been stuck at three for days, and days
She thinks that happiness is a mat that sits on her doorway
But outside its stopped raining
(chorus)

The Byrds - Turn, Turn, Turn

To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time for every purpose, under heaven

A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep

To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time for every purpose, under heaven

A time to build up,a time to break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn
A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together

To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time for every purpose, under heaven

A time of love, a time of hate
A time of war, a time of peace
A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing

To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time for every purpose, under heaven

A time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew
A time to love, a time to hate
A time for peace, I swear its not too late

And this may seem conceded, but i like and believe in my own lyrics.. This song is called "Ghosts"

Verse 1:
Stay the course of life,
Luck will swing your way,
But somehow that swinging door,
Winds back in my face,
Work's been overwhelming,
My shoulders can feel the weight,
Rather than enjoying life,
I'm squandering it away

Chorus:
clock on the wall comes to halt,
indicating the time is right,
out with the old and in with the new,
its essential to survive,
all my past was a steady crash ,
always took a nose dive from the high
but when I was down I hit solid ground and a new world was insight

Verse 2:
My back turned to the world,
As I travel a hazy path,
An obvious end of this era,
But a new beginning ahead,
Not glancing back for a moment,
Pain and anguish left,
Only focusing forward,
As I walk until the sun is set

(Chorus)

Bridge:
This is my beginning,
My second chance of life,
Never closer to reality,
As I am tonight
Changing world around me,
The fittest will survive,

Verse 3:
I've grown up faster these past few years,
And I've struggled with reason,
Is taking the chance for a fresh new start
Committing an act of treason?
Serve as a traitor to my history,
Adapting just like the seasons,
My future is a mystery,
Except one thing is for certain

(Chorus)

Love this song because its def. any small town around where I live!

"Famous In A Small Town"-Miranda Lambert

They say life is so much sweeter
Through the telephoto lens of fame
Around here you get just as much attention
Cheerin' at the high school football game

I dreamed of going to Nashville
Put my money down and placed my bet
But I just got the first buck of the season
I made the front page of the Turnertown Gazette

Every last one, route one, rural hearts got a story to tell
Every grandma, in law, ex girlfriend
Maybe knows you just a little too well
Whether you're late for church or you're stuck in jail
Hey words gonna get around
Everybody dies famous in a small town

Tyler and Casey broke up
It ended pretty quietly
We heard he was caught red-handed with her mama
That's just what they let us all believe

Every last one, route one, rural hearts got a story to tell
Every grandma, in law, ex girlfriend
Maybe knows you just a little too well
Whether you're late for church or you're stuck in jail
Hey words gonna get around
Everybody dies famous in a small town

Baby who
Needs their faces in a magazine
Me and you
We've been stars of the town since we were 17

Let's go on down to the quick stop
Wear your yellow shades
And I'll put on my tight jeans
And we'll just spend the weekend burnin' rubber
And we'll let em point and stare in disbelief

Every last one, route one, rural hearts got a story to tell
Every grandma, in law, ex girlfriend
Maybe knows you just a little too well
Whether you're late for church or you're stuck in jail
Hey words gonna get around
Everybody dies famous in a small town

find me here
and speak to me
I want to feel you
I need to hear you
you are the light
that's leading me
to the place
where I find peace again

you are the strength
that keeps me walking
you are the hope
that keeps me trusting
you are the life
to my soul
you are my purpose
you're everything

and how can I
stand here with you
and not be moved by you
would you tell me
how could it be
any better than this yeah

you calm the storms
and you give me rest
you hold me in your hands
you won't let me fall
you still my heart
and you take my breath away
would you take me in
take me deeper now

this should have been our graduation song....

ELI YOUNG BAND
So Close Now

I've got the streets memorized
I see the faces embedded in my mind
I can't keep on fighting the urge go
I've got nothing in common with this town I've come to know
(So)

Chorus:
I am so close now to walking away
About to walk a path I've gotta take
I am packing up heading out
I can't sleep I'm dreaming way too loud
I'm so close now, so close now
to getting out

The same old lines, the same routine
Nothing changes and that's not good for me
I need a break. I need something new
I need to replace these old worn out broken shoes

I am so close now to walking away
About to walk a path I've gotta take
I am packing up heading out
I can't sleep I'm dreaming way too loud
I'm so close now, so close now
to getting out

I've got that truck all loaded down
I should've known how hard it'd be leave this town

I am....
So close now to walking away
About to walk a path I've gotta take
I am packing up heading out
I can't sleep I'm dreaming way too loud
I'm so close now, so close now
to getting out

Clay Blaker-The Only Thing That I Have Left
Recorded by George Strait

Some people say I'm one of those guys with blessings in life overlooked
Sometimes I feel like the tatter torn pages of some old paperback book
All the places I've played and the money I've made Still I've got nothing to show
And the only thing that I have left in the whole wide world Is you
You put your whole life into somethin' you love and you never get that one big break
Gotta take you out of the back street bars and put you on center stage
But a million tears and a million beers have just about washed me up
And the only thing that I have left in the whole wide world is you

I gave it all I had every night for all these years pourin' out my soul
'Til it was gone
I spread myself so thin And I'm just barely hangin' on
But tonight I'm with you and you can carry me through
Just love me
'Cuz the only thing that I have left in the whole wide world is you
I gave it all I had every night for all these years
Pourin' out my soul til it was gone
I spread myself so thin and I'm just barely hangin' on
But tonight I'm with you and you can carry me through Just love me
'Cuz the only thing that I have left in the whole wide world Is you
Oh, is you

(Kent Westberry - Vincent Matthews)

From somewhere outside, I hear a
Street vendor cry "filet gumbo"
From my window I see him, going
Down the street and he don't know
That we fell right to sleep
In the damp tangled sheets so soon
After love in the hot afternoon.

Now the bourbon street lady
sleeps like a baby in the shadows (in the shadows)
She was new to me, full of mystery
But now I know (but know I know)
That she's just a girl,
And I'm just a guy, in a room
Full of love in the hot afternoon.

--- Instrumental ---

We got high in the park
This morning and we sat, without talkin'
Then she came back here,
In the heat of the day, tired of walkin'
Where under her breath,
She hummed to herself a tune
Of Love in the hot afternoon...

Good Hearted Woman Lyrics
A long time forgotten
are dreams that just felt by the way.
And the good life he promised
ain't what she's living to day.
But she never complains of
the bad times or bad things he's done
Lord.
She's just talks about the good times
they've had and all the good times to come.

She's a good hearted woman
in love with a good timin' man.
She loves him in spite of his ways
that she don't understand.
Through teardrops and laughter

they'll pass though his world hand in hand.
A good hearted woman
lovin' her good timin' man.

He likes the night life

the brightlights and good timin' friends.
when the party's all over
she welcome him back home again.
Lord knows she don't understand him
but she does the best that she can.
'Cause she's a good hearted woman
she loves her good timin' man.

She's a good hearted woman ...

On The Road Again Lyrics
On the road again
Just can't wait to get on the road again
The life I love is makin' music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again
On the road again
Goin' places that I've never been
Seein' things that I may never see again,
And I can't wait to get on the road again.

On the road again
Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
We're the best of friends
Insisting that the world be turnin' our way
And our way
Is on the road again
Just can't wait to get on the road again
The life I love is makin' music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again

On the road again
Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
We're the best of friends
Insisting that the world be turnin' our way
And our way
Is on the road again

Just can't wait to get on the road again
The life I love is makin' music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again
And I can't wait to get on the road again

BELLAMY BROTHERS - Old Hippie
Album : Angels & Outlaws Vol. 1 (2005)

He turned 35 last Sunday
In his hair he found some gray
But he still ain't changed his lifestyle
He likes it better the old way.

So he grows a little garden
In the backyard by the fence
He's consuming what he's growing
Nowadays in self defense
He gets out there in the twilight zone
Sometimes when it just don't make no sense.

He gets off on country music
'Cause disco left him cold
And he's got young friends and a new way
But he's just to frickin old.

And he dreams at night of Woodstock
And the day John Lennon died
How the music made him happy
And the silence made him cry
Yeah, he thinks of John sometimes
And he has to wonder why.

Chorus:
'Cause he's an old hippie
And he don't know what to do
Should he hang on to the old
Should he grab on to the new.

He's and old hippie
This new life is just a bust
He ain't trying to change nobody
He's just trying real hard to adjust.

He was sure back in the sixties
That everyone was hip
Then they sent him off to vietnam
On his senior trip.

And they forced him to become a man
While he was still a boy
And behind each wave of tragedy
He waited for the joy
Now this world may change around him
But he just can't change no more.

Chorus:
'Cause he's an old hippie
And he don't know what to do
Should he hang on to the old
Should he grab on to the new.

He's and old hippie
This new life is just a bust
He ain't trying to change nobody
He's just trying real hard to adjust.

Well, he stays away a lot now
From the parties and the clubs
And he's thinking while he's jogging round
Sure is glad he quit the hard drugs.

'Cause him and his kind
Get more endangered everyday
And pretty soon the species
Will just up and fade away
Like the smoke from that torpedo
Just up and fade away.

Chorus:
'Cause he's an old hippie
And he don't know what to do
Should he hang on to the old
Should he grab on to the new.

He's and old hippie
This new life is just a bust
He ain't trying to change nobody
He's just trying real hard to adjust.

Yeah, he ain't trying to change nobody
He's just trying real hard to adjust...

In the Real West
By Tish Hinojosa

It's the way of life in the real west
'Neath a prairie moon that's heaven blessed
And a tall boot shuffle on a wooden floor
It's a clean white shirt on a Saturday night
And a long cold beer that's pure delight
And if you heard me say it, well there's a whole lot more
Chorus
It's the way of life in the real west
I'm a city girl but I must confess
I'd be a cowboy angel and I know what for
It's the way of life in the real west
Where your time is yours when the sun sets
And the stars rise up to light the western sky
Laredo up north to Cimarron
If I'm lost, you know I've gone
To where the spurs that jingle are the workin' kind
It's the way of life in the real west
And if I had my way I guess
I'd ride and rope and wrangle till the day I die
Chorus
