I feel this is a strong topic, do coaches pick favorites for their all disrict players, i think so. Here in Kennedale a player im not going to name, won the 1st team sll-district award, and no one knows how. The guy who won the award was by far the worst player on the team and i mean god awful. The kid was voted by the coaches to be captain as well, as his teamates were stunned. He was the good graded kid that all the coaches liked because he was quiet and listened, but shouldnt the good players win, not the good students?Well as it turns out ive heard that the other district teams coaches are who picks the players for these awards. This didnt make since because if any coaches ever actually watched this kid play he would of never got mentioned. I was just wondering if anyone could give me the inside on how all district picks actually get picked?

players are nominated by their OWN coaches in most cases. Some caoches can nominate other players but its usually their own coaches that nominate them. If a coaches player gets nominated then they CANNOT vote for their own player.

What about unanimous picks?

sometimes there just is no one else to vote for
if you take all the superlative picks out of the mix
ie MVP O MVP D MVP Newcomer ect

there may be no one else left at that position to vote for

example

6 team dist
team a qb is dist mvp
team b qb is o mvp

you have 4 qbs to pick from for
first and second team

actually you are down to the 3rd best qb

and if he is decent
and the rest sucked or were not nominated
its unaminous 1st team all dist for the 3rd best in the dist

it happens

besides if you are worried about all dist
you aint a team player
i never cared about it much
winning was better

Sometimes All-District is a form of small consolation to a team player whose team went, let's say, 3-7....

The Coaches in the District get together and discuss who they would like to make 1st -2nd team all district, so in my opinion they scratch each others backs. The last 3 yrs. I have seem kids on the 1st team all district list and they do not make any of the other lists. EX. 2005 we had a kids make 1st team and the kid that made 2nd team went on the make some of the other list including 3rd. of state in 1 poll and our kid made no other list. How is that? District Coaches scratching each others backs that's how.

There is always gonna be someone who isn't happy with these lists.

They tend to be a pretty big joke sometimes depending on the district. :o
