Sinton is ranked #8 in the coaches poll and #3 on this poll. Cool. How many starters is the team returning? Should be another good year then.

Looks like another Fal/Sinton collision again this season is in the works. Both those schools seem like they always have good baseball teams every year.

It's cause we ROCK!! :D ;)

I don't think we are playing them in pre-season this year, but I'll have to look. That game would be in Fal this year. :hairpunk:

A Fal/Sinton match-up is always fun!!!

Jasper shouldn't be ranked above Silsbee in anybody's poll. Silsbee will sweep them in district.

Polls are polls, but Jason Becker does a good job. He is in constant contact with coaches & scouts. Good guy too who works hard at his job. Nothing but a starting point.

Wharton guys: who do y'all have returning from last year, as in pitching? Tough 8 team district with Columbus now in the mix. WC & Sweeny both lost a lot too. Needville returns a bunch of kids, so they may be a sleeper.

we have 2 main starters as of now but then we have 2 JV guys from last year that will prolly become starters or 2 relievers and then we have this freshman who i think and the coach is already talkin about him being one of the starters for this season. our defense is still solid and outfield seems to have more speed and our lineup should be stacked with contact and power throughout all of it.

yes, thats about right...pitching would be the only problem but alot of pre-district games and scrimmages will help out that out...

I figured there would be and that it'd be in Fal. If it doesn't conflict with softball - I'll try to be there.

One team that is not on this list is Lufkin Hudson. They lost 8 starters last year including Brandon Belt, one of the top pitchers in the state. The locals are saying "watch out--we will reload not rebuild." They may know something or they may just be homers!

Belt ended up at San Jac (not Texas) because he wants to go pro & get more $$ than offered last year. Hudson will be good because it's a solid baseball program, but they have lost 2 D1 kids the past 2 years. One's at Houston & then Belt. Some others could play too. I don't see them being as good this year, guess we'll see.

Another interesting thing about Becker's ratings this year--He has 5 Region I teams in the top 10 and 8 in the Top 25. The cover of his magazine is about West Texas Baseball. I thought I would hear some complaints from Region 3 by now.

Haven't been able to pick a magazine up yet to read what he says. There are three Midland kids on the cover so every store in Midland sold out on the first day.

East Bernard has a kid named Paul Demny that will be drafted. Hard-throwing, big RHP. Plays summers for the Houston Heat.

Rogers has a big kid too, name escapes me, but also a pitcher, & like 6'6" too.

Taylor Jungmann (sp?), I think he is only a junior this year.

Odem has pretty much always had a pretty good baseball team. They are a tough little school, but the past couple of years they have been knocked out by a just as tough Schulenberg team.
