My personal take on the 3A downlow

Hello,
I don't post very often however i have been a daily reader on this forum for about a month. I surf the web for all sorts of sporting forums and am a member of seven of them. I just love chatting and talking sports to whomever. I have seen and heard just about everything that goes on in daily sports forums. I am posting my opinions about this forum and some suggestions that the moderators can consider. Please do not take this the wrong way and I promise my intentions are not to offend or make a mockery of any individual that partakes on this forum.

Suggestion #1- Talk more about sports. For example, this forum tends to get led astray when a sports topic comes to surface. meaning that to many people get carried away with other non-related topics. Please people say on topic and don't talk BS.

Suggestion #2 - There are way too many homers on this forum. For example, say what's going thru your mind and what you personally believe rather than side with your favorite college, HS, and professional teams. There are way to many COWBOYS & LONGHORNS homers it's truely sad. People here think that those two teams are the only teams worth anything.

Suggestion #3 - Get rid of all the immature posters, for example if i were a moderater of this forum I would trash away posters like ADDIDAS 410, EMERSON, the ASU college student, and PMONEY. These are the type of people that will eventually bring down and RUIN forums. They are full of stupidity and rarely do they have any good insight concerning sports. They will do no good and they have no sports intelligence whatsoever. It doesn't matter how long they have been a member or what they do. they are the ones that have the self-centered EGO manic type of personality.

Final suggestion #4 - Add some spice to this forum, there are plenty of intellegent minds here, "put them to use", because variety is the spice of life.

the weird thing about this board is that many of us have met one or the other, so its not just a screen name posting, its a person people know, so it is easy to get off subject and joke around alot. we do have our sports we talk about, but this is mainly a 3a board and mainly football, hell this is TEXAS. so the off-season we have our time to find out more about each other and have fun till the new season starts again first week of august.

if you have a problem, leave, the boards been up for 5 years and is going strong still, and i doubt change in in the future.

Orangebloods and others are great sports places, but they don't have much else to offer

Where else could a football board have 2,000 active members and the top two or three posters are female?

That doesn't mean that this board is watered down. These people just like the community, and would rather talk about crap from january to august instead of not be on the board at all.

I've been talking texas high school football since there was only one or two message boards, period. For a board covering only one class to be this popular, it can't be that bad.

I agree whole-heartedly with the Community aspect of this site.

That does not mean I agree with all the posters. Especially the one that started this thread.

However this IS the internet. It's world wide, and I am sure everyone can find a home that they feel comfortable in.

Posters can be from all age groups. religious background, etc.

You know, some of the people that you have included in your rant to get rid of are people who have helped shape this board into what it is today, a great place to talk sports and whatever else that a person could desire. This place does take down your freedom of speech in some aspects for the betterment of the board, but if you make this a boring place and talk about sports non-stop during off-season, it will be a ghost town and there will be nothing left for the in-season posters to come back to. Like it if you want, but there are several thousand of us who like it just fine. And since you're throwing out your humble opinions out there, I think that you have some posters on here who you need to apologize to, because they do bring a lot of sports to the table here and helped to create the board personality that we have today, but that's just my humble opinion, Veritas.

You are preaching to the choir. We happen to like this board the way it is!!!! If you don't, you know the drill!! Sorry if I sound rude, but it bugs the crap out of me when a relative newcomer comes in here and tries to tell us how to run OUR board. Note the donating icons by many posters names.....WE made this board what it is today!! If you don't like the way it's run, oh well!

In reference to suggestion #1...THIS IS THE OFFSEASON DUDE!! When football is in full swing, we are padded up and ready to go! Stick around for more than a month and you will see that!

Suggestion #2: We are ALL pretty much homers, be it High School, College or Pro.....deal with it!

Suggestion #3: We have an wide range of posters on here, some are 16 some are in their 60's. The wide difference in age is going to show up in their posting....that's life!!

Suggestion #4: This is the spiciest place around, except for maybe porn sites, if that's what you are looking for, you have come to the wrong place........UNLESS me and P4S get on a roll, then Katy bar the door!!:D :D

wow, isn't everyone protective. this board is hogwash sometimes. it's people like addidas and emerson that just drive me the wrong way. i have been around the block more than once and i know how all these forum operations work. please people i am just posting my honest opinions, there is no need to spat on what i have said. take it for what it's worth.

you know what, i have decided i am going to stick around and start posting more often this board needs some changes. i understand that it's not football season so why not bring up other sporting competitions?

i believe that this board needs someone with a difference in opinion, everyone here seems to think alike and i believe that i can offer that spice that is so high in demand here.

We are like a huge family here.. atleast us regular posters... we have met a lot of people and talk to a lot of dowlowers outside of the downlow. as for adidas.. hes not online at all right now and i will say this..... yes he doenst know when to shut up sometimes (sorry Forrest ya know im right) but trust me.. this place would be kinda boring if it wasnt for his off the wall, worked up, posts... not sayin he is THE BOARD or anything but i dont think he needs to be ROM'D for his posts.

come back around football season and see how we do things.

Alright, so pretty much you're saying that this place should be about what you want to talk about and be modelled around your idea of what a successful message board should be. The bottom line is that this is a successful message board, with real people, with real personalities, and most of all real friendships. If you don't like the way this place is ran, it's not for us to bend and snap to your every whim to meet your expectations. I'm sorry, I'm not going to change, and neither is Adidas, Ranger Mom, sinton66, Emerson1, CHS_CG, etc., or this message board for that matter. As far as I'm concerned, this is our message board, and when I say that, I don't mean myself or the ones listed earlier, I mean everyone, our community as a whole, that same community that keeps coming back day in and day out. We are the people that make up this message board, not just you Veritas. You are very vain to think that we should do as you wish, and you obviously do not speak for the entire community. As for having beef with Adidas, that's your deal, but don't try to take it up with us or try to make a person leave who has been here longer than ninety percent of the people on here. I think that I speak for everyone when I say that if the guy bothers you that much, then you should be the one who leaves. That's friendship amongst the members, and it has nothing to do with football, and it's not going to be leaving anytime soon.

Suggestion #3 - Get rid of all the immature posters, for example if i were a moderater of this forum I would trash away posters like ADDIDAS 410, EMERSON, the ASU college student, and PMONEY. These are the type of people that will eventually bring down and RUIN forums. They are full of stupidity and rarely do they have any good insight concerning sports. They will do no good and they have no sports intelligence whatsoever. It doesn't matter how long they have been a member or what they do. they are the ones that have the self-centered EGO manic type of personality.

Final suggestion #4 - Add some spice to this forum, there are plenty of intellegent minds here, "put them to use", because variety is the spice of life.

So have fun trying to "change" our board. We've had a guy come in, try to change, and when that failed, he made a board of his own... and it sucks.

Man I was just shocked to get this much attention from some new guy. At least my board personality made an impression upon somebody. :rolleyes:

To address what has been said (and this will mainly go towards the O/P)...I think many people fail to realize the differences between someone's personality on here and in real life. Are some people here the exact same people they are in real life? Yes I do believe they are. Are there others that like to play games, stir the pot, poke fun at others, etc on here...even when they wouldn't do that in real life under any circumstance? Yes I do believe that these types exist as well. It's the mix of personalities (both real and created) that make up a site such as this and (more importantly) are integral to the longevity of the site. If all we ever did was come on here...talk football...throw out the facts...give our opinions...and go home...well I guess we could rename this site with the names of numerous other football forums that are out there (no offense to other sites intended). What makes this place fun and enjoyable on a day-to-day basis is the various personalities of our posters and the interaction (both positive and otherwise) that takes place between us. Nobody is forced to do something they don't want and as long as your actions it's within the guidelines of the site then (whether you like it or not) things will be just fine and the site will continue to prosper. Does that mean that everybody on here has to get along with and like everybody else? Of course not. For a site such as this to sustain itself...it requires those that take an active role in it (whether as hardcore posters, regulars, part-timers, floaters, newbies, etc) to be able to seperate fantasy and reality. Do we as posters do that all the time? Not at all but I think we do a pretty good job of it...otherwise this site wouldn't a) be as active as it has been for 5+ years and b) have those who like what the see...but don't like the way things go and want to see it tweaked to fit their own preferences.

One final thought...I think a lot of people on here would be completely surprised if they found out the name, age, location, occupation, background, etc of all of the other posters It would totally change the makeup of the board if we truly knew EVERYTHING about the others on here. If you think I'm crazy...just imagine if everybody knew what G2 REALLY did for a living...you would be 100% surprised I assure you. ;) It's the unknown, the privacy that's offered, and the ability to choose what degree of detachment from reality you are comfortable with that sets this forum apart for me. Long and short, this forum creates aunique atmosphere that can't be found elsewhere and if you enjoy it then feel free to hang around and take part. However...if you don't like it then trying to change it won't make much of a difference. I can rest easy tonight knowing that I'm the only one who will tell ya, "Don't let the door hit ya on the way out!" :)









PS - Anytime you want to talk football...I'm here and will pour over whatever facts, stats, and figures you want to discuss. If you just want to voice biased opinions...I don't have time for it because those discussions end up going nowhere when you refuse to consider all applicable information and make a cooresponding, informed decision based on the facts as they are presented.

I agree with you Bull and also with a few other posters that immediately recognized that our "new" friend got just the reaction he/she was looking for.

Folks like this do add spice to the board until they get out of hand...and we all know what happens then....they are history and we talk about how much we miss the fun.

I must say I was impressed by how quickly and tightly you guys "circled the wagons"...:D

I kept telling myself it was a joke but it was started over a month before april 1st just so he could trick us:doh:

Then you still have those who don't even like those teams either....they like the 49er's, or the Broncos, or the Colts.....and they do offer their two cents about it. You just won't get to many of those other's here because we are in TEXAS!! So get over it dude.
