i hope dirk has another 35+ night

The mavs have a habit of starting slowly, but when they're 17-1 recently, i don't mind so much

Maverick's bench comes up big and the offensive rebounding a big factor in their win. Dallas is definately the best team going, but the Rockets will be much better with the return of Yao Ming.
T-Mac finishes with 45 points.

just got back from the game.....TMac was awesome...in the first half. He got cold in the second and couldn't get going again. Mavs played tough D when they needed to.

hooray for TMAC
he scored 45

but the Mavs donkey-stomped the Rockets down the stretch
they really are the closers

T-Mac still had 16 points in the second half, but it was the Mavs who heated up from the 3 point line. I believe they finished 10-15 from behind the arc. Dirk and Howard had big games, but Devean George broke the Rocket's back going 4-5 on his 3 point shooting. Offensive rebounding and second chance points were key for Dallas. Who were the fans chanting MVP for?

Josh Howard scored 28, had 7 rebounds and played some great defense. He definately deserves some credit. On a night where T-Mac was clearly the best player, I thought they may of been chanting for him. :D

Ill give T-Mac credit he played a great game but he wasnt good enough. The Mavs made a statement winning this game

Don't forget Yao is hurt, & he was playing at an MVP level before the injury. Houston blew Dallas out earlier this year. Lots of season left...

Dallas is a great team, but don't think they made a statement. The Rockets are missing their top player and 2 other key players. Series is tied with both teams winning at home. In the game that both teams were at full strength, Rockets won by 31.

The injuries didnt stop the Rockets from winning 9 of the last 10 so why does it become a factor now?

No excuses here, but no doubt the Rockets are a better team with Yao & Bonzi Wells at full strength. Helps T-Mac too not have to carry the load as much. Lots of season left, that's all I meant.

Houston can get away with beating lesser teams, but when you play the elite teams, you need your best players. If Dallas has a weakness, it's at the center position. With Yao playing, Houston can take advantage of that weakness. Remember, nobody could guard him in the first game.

Another player is Kirk Snyder. He started earlier in the year, and he gives the Rockets someone that can cover the big guards.

the Mavs couldnt/didnt guard anyone in their first four games (0-4) - they lost to NO/OKC & Milw & Sac & Hou for pete's sake

Technically both teams weren't at full strength, Devean George didn't play at all because of food poisoning.

When is Yao do back? They play again Feb 9th

and what happened to Shane Battier?:D

Devean George played nuts for about 5 minutes last night. I was thoroughly impressed. He made 2 consecutive 3's and played great D during that stretch.

It is pretty good, but still, they are better with him. Streaks happen during a season good & bad. Yao has really gotten better & is moving better/more athletic too after lots of strength work. The schedule has also been easier of late too.

Snyder has to prove more to me. Yes, he is athletic & has size, but he does not play hard all the time. That won't fly with JVG. Agreed though they are a much better team with Yao, Wells, & Snyder healthy of course.

Didn't they open the season with a 97-91 loss to the SA Spurs? Then they lost to Houston, Golden State and the Clippers? The other 4 losses were to Wash, Detroit, Utah and the Lakers. Give Dallas credit, besides GS & LAC, those are #2 & #3 teams in the East and #'s 3,4,5 and 6 teams in the West. It usually takes one of the better teams to defeat Dallas.

Avery made a great move when he pulled Dampier and replaced him with George.
