This is a great 1967 Western Movie that is set in 1843. Kirk Douglas plays former Sen. William J. Tadlock who leds some settlers from Missouri to Oregon. Robert Mitchum plays Summers who is the guide. Richard Widmark is Lije Evans one of the pioneers on the wagon train. Also Sally Fields plays Mercy McBee in her film debut. Jack Elam is Preacher Weatherby and Stubby Kaye plays Sam Fairman. John Mitchum (Robert's son) plays Little Henry.
This is a great movie and is in beautiful color. It will on the Encore Western Channel on Jan. 20 (Saturday) from 12:35 P.M. to 2:40 P.M. and agian on Jan. 30 (Tuesday) from 8:45 P.M. to 10:50 P.M.
It is a great movie with four top stars (Douglas, Mitchum, Widmark and Fields) and you will like it.
I saw it when I was a freshman in college when it first came out. Before I saw it a coed at breakfast who had already seen it said she was impressed with it.
