The Rockets play at Dallas on tuesday and host Phoenix on wednesday. All three teams have a 9-1 record in their last 10 games. San Antonio was just defeated by Chicago 99-87.

I just can't see the rockets being No. 3 in the conference for the rest of the season (No. 4 in playoff seeding?)

Not without Yao, anyway--he was playing like a monster until he was sidelined.

Can't see them holding on to that spot, but you never know, especially with Utah coming down to earth and the Lakers due for some down time.

my favorite quote was what he said about phoenix--how their pace is 64-18 and they are still in second place in the conference.

I love my MAVS!

the thing about the rockets is they play really solid d fence and they are in alot of games and when you have a player like t mac to make big shots you win games...are they the third best team in the west? maybe not but they are playing good ball and could make some noise come april and may

Dikembe Mutombo has replaced Yao and has become a rebounding machine. In his last 10 games, he has had at least 10 rebounds in every game, including 3 games with 18 or more. Mutombo has averaged 14.1 boards during that stretch. His average of 20.6 rebounds per 48 minutes leads (among qualified players) the NBA. The Rockets do miss Yao's 26 points a game, but the rebounding and defense of Mutombo has been unexpectedly outstanding.
