I saw a story this last week on the New York Titans (now the Jets) and it reminded me of one of my high school coaches. He was an old roughnecker and football player. I used to have a football card of him and I wondered if they were still around. The link below takes you to his old AFL card. He played for Sammy Baugh (I believe at Hardin Simmons) where he led the nation in rushing. He was also our baseball coach.

Does anybody else have a coach who played pro football?

I don't know if he coached at Hardin Simmons, but Sammy Baugh was the Head Coach of the New York Titans in the early sixties. Maybe he(your coach) played for him there.

I think that is why he went Pete went to the Titans. Sammy asked him to come. He quit after the 1960 season because the team checks kept bouncing. He went back to the West Texas oilfields before finally becoming a coach.
