View Full Version : A Strong Argument against a real playoff system in Major College Football!

I support having a real playoff in Major College Football but a man on a sports show had a strong argument against it which deserves consideration and thought and meditation. If it happened all the Major Colleges would go after athletes with extra illegal NCAA benefits and under the table deals from rich alumini and much pressure to win. Also successful head coaches would come at a very high premium which would cost more money.

Strong argument indeed.

wait...that's been happening for years. That's a non-issue.

actually, when you think about it... that may not have been the answer either since how many teams get in?
first, you would have to have the champion from all major colleges, so what do you do with the mid majors? Boise proved they belong...
Big East, Big 12, Big 10, ACC, SEC, Pac 10,
so that is 6 right there... if you go only 8 then people are still complaining that there school was left out... What if LSU got left out... could have happened this year...
where does Conference USA and the WAC fit in... too many colleges depend on too much money that there is a lot that has to be changed and I do not see it happening...

It's very simple.

16 Team Tournament.

Conference champs from BCS conferences.

Top 10 beyond that.

Done.

You are assuming that the college people are smarter than the UIL people (no way). They would eventually have two per conference then they would add a DI Super Championship (TU, OU, etc.for the big schools and a DI Regular Championship for the smaller schools (Bayolr, rice, etc). Plus it would not be fair for the larger conferences to get the same number of teams in as smaller conferences so they would then get four teams. Heck, they might even taylor it around the current UIL system.
