Carroll receives 19 applications for head coaching job

By TRAE THOMPSON

The Carroll school district has received 19 applications so far for the vacant head varsity football coaching position.

Carroll is looking to replace former head coach Todd Dodge, who resigned to become the head coach at North Texas. Dodge was 98-11, and led Carroll to four Class 5A state titles and three mythical national titles.

Of the 19 applicants, 12 are from Texas and seven from out of state, according to Derek Citty, director of personnel for the district.

“We’re very pleased about the quality of applicants we’ve received,” Citty said.

Citty said remaining applications will be taken through Tuesday. After that, an interview committee will meet, consisting of Citty, superintendent David Faltys, athletic director Ronnie Tipps, principals from both high schools and booster club president Jack Luna.

I think head coaches and coordinators out there are just smart enough to realize when they don't stand a chance for a job!

I don't know why anyone would want the pressure of that particular job. Can you imagine the expectations? Whoever takes it better win another title within the next 2 years or they can kiss the job goodbye
