??? He was supposed to meet with the media at 10 AM EST (9 AM CST) so I thought we would've heard by now...

The money must have been awesome. The way that the colleges are ponying up, it is hard to understand why many of the NFL guys aren't following suit.

Coaches don't generally use the fanfare of a set time national media press conference to say "no" to offers. Saban is taking a page from Spurrier's book and taking his bag of tricks back to college where they work well and coaches are revered in college towns. Oh, and he may make a dollar or two for his trouble along the way.

at Alabama he is the man. No owner. No general manager. No agents.

Mike Shula coached the Tide, and his dad coached the Dolphins. Now he's getting replaced at Bama by a guy who also coached the Dolphins. Weird... ;)

only an athletic director, a school president, the board of regents, thousands of wealthy boosters, and a state full of rednecks hungry to see Bama back on top.

You know, here's my question about this.

In the pros you actually have an offseason. In college you have no offseason, with recruiting like it is these days. Unless you just really love coaching 18-20 year old young men, I would think the pro game would be easier on your life.

If it wasn't the money I guess the Dolphins were too much of a challenge to him.
