Cingular charges for outgoing and incoming messages. I don't believe this is fair. Why should they charge you for incoming messages? They are already charging the sender. We have a plan for 200 messages, we can control the outgoing messages, but can't control the incoming messages. Friends don't know how many messages you have remaining. I guess we could always pay extra for an unlimited plan, but I hate giving those guys any more money. They charge all those extra service charges and taxes. I believe they should only charge the sender.

Just as an FYI...the charges and taxes are not imposed by the company. They are all gov't charges that you are paying. Cingular only collects the revenue from your plan and any additional features that you add onto your account.

If you would like to learn how to get banned from the Cingular Store in your area let me know, I have a proven method.

Truth is all the companies are bad. They try and screw you any way they can. Over the years I have been with just about all of them with my business. I have been at war with Sprint now for the past 3 months:mad: I could prob write a book on how bad they are!

The best thing to do is make sure that you read your bill every single month. Keep all of your records. I have 5 phones on my business account and I usually can not go 2 months in a row without a bogus charge. They always take it off, but who should have to deal with this as much as we do with cell service?

We have a similar plan, but what if some of your friends or somebody else started texting you many times a day? Besides telling them to quit, Cingular recommends filing harrassment charges. I just feel that they should only charge the sender. Why should I pay for someone texting me?

As stupid as this may sound, I am not so sure you get charged until you actually open and read the text. Might want to check with your provider

You're charged even if you don't read it. The provider doesn't know if you open it...they just know that they transmitted data to your phone. That is the point at which you are charged. The only exception to this is on Sprint's older phones when you had to connect to the internet to read a text msg. Then you weren't charged until you opened it because the opening of the message actually transmitted data.

That's why I love text messaging. You can not hear anything over the phone at a football game.

When I worked for Cingular and my service was free, I averaged around 5000 texts/month. We had one girl there who would run between 6000 and 8000 on a regular basis.

I didn't want to pay the $.10 per incoming message with Cingular, so I called them and had text messaging turned off. So now, I don't receive any messages, and don't have to worry about the cost!

L M A O! You sound like me! I have Sprint and have been very happy with their service. However, when I had Cingular, I wasn't a happy camper.

The more you hang around the more you'll realize that I'm full of useless knowledge. Not game show trivia stuff unfortunately...but random things nonetheless! ;)
