Thanks. Just what I thought, as Brazoria County got zero on here (not Tank Carder, not Jared Flannel, etc.). Both will sign D1 to play major college football in February.

Brazosport Facts newspaper stinks to the high heavens every week & every year. AP list is based on nominations from local newspapers.

nobody from Ingleside either huh? hmm....Adams (WR) total yds weren't great, but his averages were pretty darn good...

Receiving:

41 receptions for 850yds a 20.7yd avg & 13TDs

Rushing:

60 rushes for 626yds a 10.4yd avg & 10 TDs

not too shabby in my book.

Joel Johnson WR:

58REC for 1048yds 18.1yd avg for 9TDs

Hope so. Carder was all state last year as a junior.

No sour grapes, congrats to those that made this list.

There are 174 3A teams, so deserving players will always be left off this list.

Ricky Beaty QB from Wimberley should of been up there IMO. dont know exact stats but he threw for probably between 2500-3000 yards. around 30 TD's and I believe only 4 INT's and probably around 60-63 % completion. and ran for around a 1000 and around 20 TD's I will post exact stats if i can get my hands on them. but anyway..... I think those #'s are good enough for atleast HM.

i meant on first or second team.

not HM

I was atleast happy to see Travis Combs get honorable mention. As any of the people who play him can tell you, he definitely deserves it. Wimberley or Cuero can tell you. He is a freak, and is everywhere on the field.

I'd say look for Sparks next year at LB. I think the paper said he had like 185 tackles this season as a 2nd year starter.

i heard cuero had a linebacker that was second team all state last year not even make 1st team all district this year. thats just silly.

He dislocated his shoulder the first ditrct game and didn't come back until playoffs...You can't make all district without playing any district games...

I agree
The Facts Sports section stinks
I'm just glad for the Brazoria County News every week to update me on local stuff.

And I really don't think Flannel will make the coaches list. He missed too many games.

But Wilkerson over Carder is a HUGE mistake

Wilkerson over Carder is a mistake?? What are you talking about? Carder DEFINITELY deserves to be All-State but why would Wilkerson NOT deserve it? He ran for 1,725 yards and 22 total tds.

Carder's All-State nomination should be for linebacker. Don't try and say he deserved the running back all state over Wilkerson. That's silly.

Austin American Statesman covers Fitzhenry all year like glue saying the he is the best player in the state of texas and he gets HM?

kinda find that one funny

Anyone else in the CenTex region notice how Westlake can lose or whatever and still get a GIGANTIC write up in the Statesman?

No Aston Whiteside? Nowhere? Laughable. 6'3" 226lb. Regional finalist in the 110 highs. 1,963 rushing..24TDs.. 90+tackles on defense. One of the best athletes in the state and an excellent student.

One other note on Aston Whiteside. He carried his 5-5 team to the semifinals on his back.

That is tough, but to all the boys that made it congrats.

Especially nice to see the Celina boys get some respect in 3a.
5 all staters and an HM for one of our sophomore backs.
Way to go boys......

I too think Whiteside got over looked

I also think Dru Prosser got overlooked as DB..but he made 2nd team kicker...although yes he is pretty deadly on Kickoffs and FG's out to about 45 yards or so.

last year he was all state DB..and that is his best position..and is the heart of our secondary

Jamie Blatnik makes all state at OL and he is better on the D side..lol

I'm sure he was deserving but one question....What does being a regional finalist in the 110 high hurdles have to do with being all state in football??

Ingleside has always had talent on the field, they just finally have a coach that knows what to do w/ it. The former HC at Ingleside tried to turn all of his kids w/ size into the skill players and had the skill players playing DB, LB, etc. was a total waste of talent. My little cousin played a few years back, he went 5'9" 210lbs and ran a 4.5. do you think he ever got the ball? Some, but not much. Not to mention the somewhat odd 4 shoulder injuries, all very similar in nature within like 3 or 4 games that all resulted in reconstructive surgery. they went 2-8 I believe, and they had WAY more talent than a 2-8 team. Athletes are one thing, a coach that knows what to do w/ them....well thats a totally different animal.

Congrats again the the Mustangs, and their coaching staff on a great season.

So Tank and Flannel should've been named All-State at running back???

OMG....

Flannel is a bad man....NO DOUBT.....but he missed a lot of games and his stats were no where NEAR Wilkerson.

Tank was the MVP of the district for good reason. But as a RUNNING BACK, his stats were pedestrian at best. He was the overall best player....YES. But on the All-State team, he would have been worthy of being named All-State at LINEBACKER...not RUNNING BACK.

Take the blinders off for a minute and think clearly please. Wilkerson's stats (1,725 and 22 tds) are worthy of being All-State.

Don't run down another kid just because someone else didn't get it. Thadeus is a good kid and very deserving. Congrats to all that made it.

speaking of the topic of stats...Fitz had well over 2000 yards in the regular season and near another 1000 in the playoffs and over 25 tds...but he got HM at quarterback..i know its almost impossible to put him as a RB, but i think it would better suit him...or even a spot as an ath. or somethin

I find it hard to believe that Wimberleys Michael Buse didnt get all-state on either side of the ball, ask any team that played against him and I'd bet they'd agree too. Just my opinion and I know that not everyone can get AS but I know for sure he's better than most those kids that got it.

Well I do not know how well ya'll are covered locally. But it really
helps to have the DMN cover us. The real deal in my opinion is when the Coaches picks come out. But even that depends on coaches participating. I just give the boys that make it their due
and not much you can do for the rest even tho they may be deserving.

See thats what hurts us cause were stuck in the middle of Austin and San Antonio and so were right on the edge of both coverage areas and tend to get left out mostly but I figured with two long playoff runs the team would've gotten enough coverage but it didnt happen but oh well what can you do.

billy fred....you've got it figured out exactly...

these awards are based on the :
a. leg work of your sportswriter of your local paper..

b. and the respect that that local paper has state wide....

again....congrats to the ones who were awarded......and yes, deserving players are left off.......

if you have a player mentioned, you might want to call and thank your local sportswriter for the paperwork he/she did.

Did I say staff or A.D.? Question my knowledge all you want, you wouldnt be the first. I think Ingleside was blessed was some very good talent lately. I would like to see what they do next year, without all of that talent. But that is if their brilliant A.D. stays there for the whipping they will take next year. But they may get a few wins seeing how they regularly play a very soft non district schedule.

"Question my knowledge all you want, you wouldnt be the first."????

GF2 - give a little credit when it's due. IHS was down before the present staff got there and have been in playoff the last 3 years, going deeper each year. They may lose some good players this year but I'll bet they are right back in the playoffs again next year. As BPhil would say "have come compassion"!
