Too bad no members of the Columbia Class of 2008 made it.

But be warned

That has got to be one of the best names ever right there!

Congrats to all, esp. the old hometown Sweeny boys. To make 1st team All-District at 4 positions like Tank Carder did (FB, LB, K, P) & be the overall MVP is impressive, in ANY classification. Esp. in a district with 8 teams & D1 kids on many teams. Great job by a class act & fine coach in Tommy Zajicek (& staff) as well.

Three first-team quarterbacks?

I don't like it either. If you have a pulse & did ok, nowadays you get on one of the teams somewhere. But everybody is doing it these days. Count how many guys made 1st or 2nd team, & it is eye-opening.

Happy for the kids, but the luster of making All-District Teams has been lost IMO from years past where only the select few were honored.

Actually the MVP (Ansley) gets listed as first team, then Scott and Ley tied for first team, so that is how you get three.

Those two DT's from Columbia were freaking studs!

Ansley Deserved QB.

Tank was a stud. No doubt.

Surprised the RB from Brookshire didn't make first team. He was good.

I think West Columbia wins the award for most things said that no one outside of the Dub would understand

I don't know, the Sweeny coaches & a guy in Galveston County now speak in code too. Those guys are great! The OC was great before Loretta Lynn's namesake got involved with camera conspiracies...

I know, & Ansley deserved it too. Is he getting any offers or sticking to baseball? Good player.

Everyone says that they love both he and Shelton but no one wants to put the $$ where their mouth is! No offers for either right now.

That is a shame. Both were playmakers. Good luck to both of them!

The best player in the district had a broken foot all year. I wish he would of been ok, but he is going to Tech. I will now be a Red Raider fan.

Nothing against Flannel or WC, but I think the kid in Sweeny (Tank Carder) deserved to be MVP. I mean he made 1st team at 4 positions & scored the majority of the Dogs' points on the year too. They don't beat WC or Wharton without him in district for sure, & in the playoffs he scored like 42/66 points too.

Tank is fielding some very nice offers & will play major college football. I know he plans to take some Official Visits in January & then make a decision. Flannel is the real deal too. Good luck to both of them.

Tank Carder deserved to be MVP. Pancho was not saying he did not. Pancho was just staing he believed Flannel was a better player. Due to Flannels injury, we can never know who would have had the better season if Flannel was healthy

I know, Pancho is just stating his opinion & it is warranted. I hope both kids do great. I truly feel sorry for Flannel & the time he has missed with that foot injury. He has missed other sports too. Let's hope the kid can get well, just a tremendous athlete.
