Vernon outplayed, outcoached, and outlasted a much bigger and taller 5A Altus Oklahoma team. Vernon's special teams play won this ball game.
Vernon's defense held Altus to 1 first down in the first half. Talk about ball control! Hey I'm telling you this Altus team was huge, every receiver that had was over 6 foot tall and one was 6'6". But Vernon's secondary never let them get behind them. Straight up, Vernon has some speed! Ok ready for Wichita Falls next week!

Yes sir Doc! Those Altus boys took a loss from a much smaller Texas team at their home field on opening night. Remember that our game was cancelled last week. Oh yes, #35 he laid the wood all night long. Straight laid the wood to those big boys. Played a great game. We did have an injury to the RB who was killing Altus's Defense. He didn't play almost the entire second half. I think it was an ankle injury but not sure. He is the same one that ran a 50 yard TD run against Sweetwater.
