Parents Keep Kids Home After Threat Targets Teens

SAN ANTONIO -- School leaders at Judson High School said they expected many parents would keep their students home on Friday after a threat against five students was found in a campus restroom.

The threat targeted five students that the author of the threat intended to harm.

The threat, which was found in a girls' bathroom stall at the Gray Campus for Judson High School, read, "December 15, everyone that has ever made fun of me will pay. BTK … Blind, torture, kill." The threat also included a swastika with the words "White Power" beneath it. The names of five students were listed as well.

School officials said they are taking the threat very seriously, and that the person responsible would face criminal charges and retribution from violations of the student conduct policy.

"Then there are things such as this that are not only racially motivated but they're threatening as well -- and life-threatening," said Judson official Sean Hoffmann.

Officials said the students who were listed on the threat are all sophomores, and were a mixture of Hispanic students and black students. They said the students were all popular athletes with no known enemies.

A letter was sent home Thursday to parents in the district. The parents of the targeted teens said they were keeping their kids at home Friday, and criticized the school for not notifying them of the threat sooner.

School officials said an increased number of police officers would be on and around campus Friday as a preventive measure.

Does the school have an anti bully policy. That is important. No student should have to put up with verbal or physical abuse.
