hard to be envious of a team that didnt win their district this year...5-5 in 2005 with a 1-4 district record...and 4-6 in 2004 with an 0-5 district record...

Permian is getting better. Coach Allman and his staff have done a great job at bringing the program back after many years of mediocrity. Many did not pick them to even make the playoffs this year. They have some pretty good kids in the pipeline. Don't chalk this up as a for sure blow out. The score at halftime against SLC was only 7-0. SLC was vastly superior but Permian played well for at least one half. They had many mistakes in the second half that help contribute to the blowout in the second half. I'm not saying that they have reached the level of the "glory" days, but they seem to be on the rise.

1a=240 and below.
2a= 241-420
3a= 432-667
4a= 678-1083
5a=1084 and above.

all classifications have around 60 teams besides 1a which has 50.

Curtis is just like Evangel in LA. 21 State Championships in 31 years of exsistance. Heck Evangel has only won 11 championships in 17 years. Whole different rules of recruiting in that state.

It doesn't matter if they have 430 or just 30 kids in the school. Obviously they are geared for football. Not unlike the NE Christian school in Humble is for basketball now. They "bought" Cleveland Heritage's program after Heritage's sponsor church decided to stop the program and the Coach Tang got a nice job elsewhere. Now the NE school with a minimal enrollment simply crushes everyone they play regardless of size.

Take any town in Texas and let it become a magnet school for football and see what you get, but a top notch 5A program here should be able to compete with them. I just don't know that MOJO is top notch anymore. Got to admire Permian though they will play anyone.

it's been obvious for years that many schools nationally ranked every year are private schools that have an unfair advantage.

they should have two national champions.

the football around the country is much like in basketball where Oak Hill Academy is simply a national basketball magnet school.

Hoover is in Alabama, this is Texas High School Football. Hoover was overrated anyways. Permian is on their way back up...I wouldn't be surprised to see them win this one.

That was probably the most shocked I have ever been at a football game! I couldn't believe the level of talent on that one team....recruiting or not!!

Wish you could have seen North Shore a few years back when they won state. That was by far the most talented team I have ever seen in high school. But as far as private schools you just don't ever know what they will put on the field. One year you can beat them by 40 and the next year they beat you by 50.

I don't care what their team does one way or the other. I don't much care for the MOJO fans I ran across in the Alamodome a few years back when they played Cove. It was nice at the end of the game to be able to laugh at some of those Permian fans who felt that playing this school they'd never heard of was somehow below them. It was even better to see Cove beat them the next year up in Texas Stadium by 4 TD's.
