I just received a note from Supt. Andrews, he said that the stadium administration notified him there was "No tailgating allowed in the Farris Athletic Complex".

After the experience last year at Comalander, I think that's exactly what they'll do.

I've gone to several games at Farris before. I got there 2 hours before game time and the police were already there. I've never seen tailgating at either Farris or Comalander.

There are a few parks nearby. But not alll of them allow bbqing.
Let me find a map. Should I call the HEB at Bandera and 1604(1/4 mile away)? They might be receptive.:)

Ok, just got off the phone with a nice lady from SA city parks. She said they have a pavilion at Raymond Russell with kitchen facilities for $230. lol Thats pricey but anyone is allowed to BBQ at the park, it's first come first serve for space. It's a decent sized park so that shouldn't be a problem. The park is around 5-7 miles away from the stadium and on I-10 just past Fiesta Texas. There is a closer park but it is huge and I see problems with everyone meeting up there because it can be confusing if you have never been there.
Let me find a map for yall. :)

Here is the link to Raymond Russell park.
Park website (http://www.sanantonio.gov/sapar/raymondrussellreservations.asp?res=1152&ver=true)
Pavilion no. 2 is open but again to bbq there it's ok without rental. We would just have to have a large "3Adownlow" sign.

I wonder if it would be just as easy (and probably cheaper) to find a restaurant closeby to eat, meet & greet. lhpd looked and found a Golden Corral at the Bandera Rd exit. If that doesn't work, there seemed to be several other options.

Then we could do a parking lot "no eat" meet & greet for any not able to make the other.

Well DARN!! Hanging around in a parking lot at a tailgate party for 3 hours or so is one thing.

Being stuck at a restaurant for 3 hours is something else entirely!!

This is really going to affect what I time I leave West Texas!!

Personally...if we can find a park somewhere nearby that will let us cook, I like that idea the best.

I don't see any need to spend $230 on a pavilion...just load up chairs and set them wherever!!

BUT....neither one of these are my teams..Im just a bystander, so tell me what we are gonna do and I will go from there!!!

Have you ever been to a meet and greet at a restaurant?? It is hard to do any meeting and greeting.....all there is is eating!!:D

Other patrons in the restaurant don't much care for the milling around from table to table!!

Has there been any kind of head count done yet??

Today is almost Friday(the day before the game) so we need something concrete soon(Friday afternoon at the latest) for all these folks coming in from out-of-town to make plans for. Heck, if it was up to me I'd say we all just meet at the Riverwalk with that "slimy green water".;)
But close to the stadium is good(to get a good seat early). I thought about OP Schnaibel(spelling?) park but that is more of a nature park, as is most in that area. I checked the map in the area and Raymond Russell park seems to fit the bill.

Okay, I've got to leave for the office before the poll is scheduled to close. I think cooking out in the park sounds like a great idea for those who'd like to. We plan to leave here around 10, so we'll go to Russell. Sinton Fan, if there are any areas that might be better for a group, please let us know. We'll have some type of 3ADL sign.

For any that can't make the park or prefer the restaurant, we could all meet in the parking lot of the stadium around 2-2:15 and still be able to get in at 2:30 when the gates open.

Jeez the link works for me.
It's easy to get there though.
It isn't around Huebner.

Follow this p4s:

Take IH10 past 1604 on the NW side of town and look for the Camp Bullis exit. Take that exit and go straight through the light. The park is about 1/2 mile down on the right.

The address is 20644 IH-10 West San Antonio, TX. You can enter that address in yahoo maps or google maps and it should pop up no problemo. If anyone has trouble or are not sure where exactly to go I'll try to find another map. You can also pm me your cell no. and I'll do the same if you get lost in the area(lol better do that today). Raymond Russell Park is at 20644 W. IH-10 in NW San Antonio, about 3.5 miles northwest of Loop 1604 on IH-10. From Loop 1604 (Anderson Loop) head west on IH-10. Take exit 554, Camp Bullis Rd, and stay on the access road. Go straight through the four-way stop, and Raymond Russell Park will be on your right.

If you are coming from IH10 from Boerne you will have to exit Camp Bullis(it's just before the Fiesta Texas exit). Take a left under the overpass and another left to the access road and it'll be about 1/2 mile on the right.

Sorry I won't be at the game or the M&G. Would like to see everyone again and meet those I didn't meet last week. I'll be over at the Alamodome watching the 2 games there. More bang for my bucks.
