B,

Massey ratings suck, my reasoning....

6 of the top 10 are done, and hell...half of those went out early!

IHStang...I think they are a very good measure of performance by each side of the ball...not on who will win or who DID win. It doesnt take into account injuries, mojo, etc. Just a pure, unbiased look at who has what, based totally on stats...nothing else. I also think its pretty telling that, when using such an unbiased measuring stick, that the remaining 3 of 4 in D2 are still in the top 10, but not both remaining in D1!!

True...it's a thorough statistical analysis that doesn't factor in any of the intangibles.

IHStang...here's a good example...Gilmer. We all knew how good their offense was, and we all heard about the incredible talent and D1 prospects on the team. But all year, they had a glaring problem in the Massey ratings...their defensive rating was HUGE. Not to mention, their "toughness of schedule" was in the mid-range too. Sure enough, BAM!! They couldnt stop LE from scoring.

Looking at Wimberley...same thing...great offensive rating, good toughness-of-schedule rating, but a defensive rating in the teens, if not higher. And how did we lose? Couldnt stop Hondo from moving the ball.

The best teams NOW are Celina and LH, at least in looking at the Massey ratings. Though Hondo isnt rated as highly, Hondo has something going for it now that the Massey ratings cant measure...heart and excitement (not saying LH doesnt, just saying Hondo came from further behind in the ratings than anyone). This should be a pretty entertaining couple of weeks.
