No Class in Canyon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After seeing the game in Sweetwater Saturday, I was disgusted that some coaches let their athletes act like they do. Win or lose, make your kids show some class. The Canyon H.S. football team talked smack the whole game against Liberty Eylau. Even down 30-7 late in the game, players were talking or taunting, what ever you want to call it, to the L-E players and coaches on the sideline.

It went on all night and the Canyon coaches had to know it was happening. Coaches let their kids act like fools and eventually the officials got involved but it was very clear that the coaches at Canyon had no control or at least they didn't care how poorly their kids acted.

It's a shame to see a team make it that far and not be taught how to act in public and carry themselves. Canyon won alot of games but they obvioulsy weren't taught one of the most important things about athletics. Show Class - win or lose.

Not my words but I think its intresting. Found it on another thread on anther site. I dont belive this is the first thing said like this during this season of canyon. Why are somany saying this kind of thing. Is it an unfair conspiracy or fact exposed by several different teams?

You found it on the East Texas thread is where you found it, I saw the same thing. I guess it is OK for their kids to act like hetherns, and Canyon is suppose to just sit back and watch!! I don't think so.

Canyon had WAY more class than that East Texas Team!! You shouldn't even be able to put the word Class and LE in the same sentence!!

i'm tired of trying to defend the integrity of my school and program on account of a few kids who never learn, kids that are in every single program, but people are blind to the fact because of their own personal, regional, and even racial biases.

I am not defending anybody if you are refering to me. I just think Canyon is a Class act, just because there are a few bad apples doesn't make the whole school that way. Every school has a few of those that they aren't very proud of. I just don't think Canyon was the only one acting this way. I don't like the way people are talking about our coaches either, I think we have some of the best coaches in the State of Texas.

You didn't just play the race card did you?? Come on now. Blackie is and unbiased outside observer. He had no interest in that game what-so-ever. Although, I must say that there have been some Snyder kids running down Vernon about them playing dirty instead of taking the loss like a man. Blackie stayed out of that entirely though. I respect Blackie's opinion and think it is an educated opinion. True, it may have been a handful of select kids that were causing the problems but the Canyon staff should have dealt with it appropriately. If Blackie says that didn't happen then it didn't happen. The man is not going to lie to us.

my statement concerning race was a generalization, i know there was quite a stir a while back about it, i wont revisit it. i don't know what is expected of "dealing with it appropriately" whenever it's a back and forth thing. when it did escalate, a canyon player was pulled and escorted out of the stadium. what else are you supposed to do? i agree eagles, i feel that we do have the best staff around.

Don't know if it did or didn't happen. It's a battle out there on the field not a game of hopskotch. Things are done and said on the field in the heat of the battle that are uncharacteristic of most kids off the field. A lot of kids are very intense on the field and we like them that way. It's hard to turn off the intensity switch in one moment and start acting like a mature adult the next moment.

I remember that we hated a couple of kids on another team when we played them because we thought they were mouthy and cocky. We met them in college a year later and guess what? They were pretty fun guys to be around. I don't get too bent out of shape for these kind of things.

As per Canyon coaches, I do know that they took out the kid who kneed the Perryton player in the groin on that famous video clip that made the rounds. He did not get caught by the refs but he did not enter the game after that incident. The Canyon coaches didn't have to do that but they did.

So much whining and complaining about who did what and this guy on this team acted classless.

These are 15-18 year old kids out there playing. And Good Lord they're playing football at that, not table tennis. Emotions can and WILL boil over. Sometimes, now this is mind-blowing stuff right here, they'll even get in shoving matches or the occasional fight. It's going to happen because these are kids and they are playing a violent game. If some of y'all get so sick of seeing how some kids or teams act then just quit watching football and go take in a golf tournament.

i agree, but there aren't many of us who won't jump on the chance to put down another team and throw the "classless" act on them.
